Thoroughly enjoying the county fair this week. Besides hanging with family and running into former classmates and neighbors, I've been sampling the fair food religiously. Besides all the rhubarb, have to say the licorice ice cream was a hands down winner.

When your remodel scope expands suddenly.
That's at the roof ridge in our bedroom (cathedral ceiling).
We have cement fiberboard "slate" tiles on the roof and the ridge is just mastick over and between the last course of tiles, which are butted (no ridge cap other than the mastick). Years of inadequate maintenance by the previous owners resulted in leaks, which led to mold and this rot in the plywood.
We also have four skylights. The roof is, we think, about 33 years old. Which means the skylights probably need replacement too. Whoo boy.

I don't doubt that you're right, but it's kind of sad. I've known some very nice women named Karen, and I always thought it was a good name.
Ironically, among my mom's 14 brothers and sisters, the one named Karen is one of the most sane.
