November 3, 2023: What A Wonderful World

I gotta remember I shouldn't bother listening to the morning news on NPR when Rick is in the car. I switched it to music right after they said the phrase "graveyard of children".

  1. Glendale got a walkoff grand slam to defeat the Peoria Javelinas 9-5. Kala'i Rosario was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer (his seventh) and a walk, raising his average to .200. Malik Barrington pitched one inning, giving up one run on one hit and two walks and striking out one.

    1. Rosario and Aaron Sabato are tied for the league lead in home runs with seven. No one else has more than five.

  2. A friend of mine went to Spurs at Suns last night. I've decided I'm getting tickets for the Spurs at the Wolves.

  3. HJ, similar, but for my teens. They’re so inundated with the world’s misery, generally, I find myself changing the radio channel when we’re together.

    1. My son likes pop music and I don't have XM so we have to get it via KS95 or KDWB. The morning shows are so awful. I have to switch during every music break before they start talking about cheating and sex toys and incest. "Love or List Em" is so damn offensive on top of it.

      1. There's a very good reason why, since I bought the car new in 2016, I have zero station pre-sets.

        1. The only AM pre-set I have is Your Good Neighbor to the North, the only FM pre-set I have is The Current. But with 32GB of music files on a microSD card, that's what I usually listen to.

    2. bluetooth + cellphone = any streaming station you want

Even when travelling, I'll pull up KCLC's all-music college station from their website. There's got to be a lot of other good alternatives available as well.

              1. My neighbor acquired one of those old TV/stereo/turntable consoles (vacuum tubes galore!).

He got the turntable running so I loaned him some of my LPs. Looking forward to drinking beer and listening to The Doors: Alive She Cried on vinyl.

And then Neil Young: After the Gold Rush, and....

          1. I did that mod a while back. The battery ribbon has since broke. I'm debating whether I keep it going or let it die
