Game 2: twins @ white sox

Yesterday actually happened. There was a meaningful, delightful baseball game. Kepler actually swatted the first pitch he saw over the right field fence. I actually got to sit on the floor with my son and we both got to watch our bullpen decimate the White Sox lineup while we played with Legos.

That was great. What do they have for an encore?

The Übermensch takes on Dallas Keuchel. Now, in theory, this is the type of matchup that we've kind of weary of over the past couple of years. Their Cy Young alum takes on our second year fodder. A few problems with that live off thinking though:

* The Übermensch isn't just fodder. He was a fine pitcher down the stretch last year, and I feel like as deep as our rotation is here, he'll break into it this summer.

* This is not 2015 Kid Keuchel. He's an old man now. He has tennis balls in his garage to help him park his minivan. He has to take a motorized scooter to get to the pitching mound, and has to take a walker to get to the top of it. He BARELY cracks 93 anymore.

* This lineup, you guys. Rosario WALKED in his first plate appearance of the season. They justifiably batted a potential batting champion 9th. Max Kepler may break the all time home run record by the end of April err, August.

This is going to be good. Go Twins!!

The Magnetic Fields – Three Way

I love so many things about this. The original is one of my favorite (mostly) instrumentals (I feel like it's based in some way around "Tequila", but haven't gone to the bother or proving it in any way).

This version removes all of the distortion and feedback, and adds...accordian and strings. The "Three way!" chants at the end are delightfully awkward in the best tradition of Magnetic Fields.

The camera work, on the other hand? Not so much.

Friday Music Day: Transitions….or not

Happy Friday, all. You made it through another week. Give yourself a pat on the back, and maybe a beer, if you indulge.

This is right around the time of year where my music taste would metamorphose. Winter is the time of year for darker and often harsher music, and Summer is obviously the time for lighter, poppier, more airy music.

That hasn't really happened yet this year. I think that's partially because, with only a few exceptions, this Spring has been kind of chilly. It hasn't really felt like "windows rolled down" kind of weather, so it hasn't really felt like "windows rolled down" kind of music, either.

Does anyone else do this every year? If so, have you yet this year?

…and you will know us by the trail of dead – into the godless void

It can be...difficult to find proper ToD live clips, since their lead singer can be a bit grating. This one is pretty good, though (different lead singer!), and the new album is really solid all the way through.

I thought these guys were on their last legs a few years ago, but they keep going strong.

Duel of the Fates

Newbish has decided that Star Wars music is the best music (he's also a big fan of Klendathu Drop and Basil Poledouris' music, but the live renditions of that on YouTube left something to be desired). After a few months of this, John Williams is my most played artist on Spotify -- ever.

I don't mind listening to cinematic orchestra music, though -- it beats Imagine Dragons. I've always enjoyed my fair share of soundtrack music, and having him get into it is fun.

As a bonus, the conductor here is VERY entertaining to watch.
