Joe Ryan

Javier Assad
Finally a day game at Wrigley.
The Twins scored three on Monday and won with some excellent pitching. They scored three runs again yesterday but were let down with poor pitching. Please score more than three so the pitchers don't have to be great again.
Final tuneup game before taking on the other AL Central contenders. There's a weekend series with the division leaders followed by three games against the team right behind the Twins in the wildcard standings.
Twins at a season high 15 games over .500 as they play at the friendly confines for the second game against the scuffling Cubs. Guardians also continuing their post all-star game struggles so Twins currently 3.5 games out of first. Closest since May.
Pablo Lopez on the mound for the Twins and had an excellent outing last week. Perfect time to hit that next gear. Shota Imanaga for the Cubs and he's been their best pitcher. I was at Wrigley in June and Imanaga was the pitcher and looked really good. Could be a fun pitcher's duel tonight.
First pitch at 7:05.
David Festa
vs
Kyle Hendricks
Game in progress!
The Twins continue their quest to beat all of Chicago by taking it to Chicago and playing an actual MLB team. Neither starter has been good this year; both have an ERA very close to 7. Festa at least has the shine of a prospect that he could halve his ERA while Hendricks, does not.
Looks like I get a bonus day!
Performance with eighth blackbird, February 5, 2011.
Enough of that short stuff! This is another longtime favorite, and in a full circle moment, it's played by the same orchestra as my first piece of the week. Thanks, all, for having me!
February 2023
If you don't feel awake yet, I bet this will do the trick!
Reading more about this piece, I was quite surprised to learn that it was first staged in June 1937. I had somehow assumed it was much older than that.
Joe Ryan, who has 2 first names, pitches against Davis Martin, who has a last name and a first name, but in the wrong places? Or just two last names?
