The Twins snapped their little losing streak last night and are going for a series win this afternoon. Darvish and Ober on the mound. Busy, busy, busy.

I'm a little surprised that I haven't shared this before.
Mongolian throat singing + mouth harp + RAWK MUSIC = Music that seems like it would be a lot of fun to watch live.

Twins starters are tied with the Mariners for first in fWAR, 5.2. The Rays are third at 4.3. The relievers unfortunately rank 17th. More unfortunately, the batters are way down at 21st. Correa is a big part of that but Miranda has been worse. The success of the starters means it has been nice to know the team will be in the game until late each time. Sure, I also know those 2-0 games very likely could end up at 2-0 or 2-1 but it's nicer than knowing last season it will not stay at only two runs given up.
I'd heard this one in a million different things, but it wasn't until this past winter that I'd actually learned what it was, thanks to Newbish's music class at school. This is a good version of the song which gets bonus points for using a glass armonica, as was intended.
San Diego Padres and their $250 million dollar payroll come into town for a rare series against the Twins. Even with elite hitters such as Manny Machado, Juan Soto, and Fernando Tatis, Jr., the Padres have been about as ass-batty as the Twins, with near league lows in average and runs scored.
Extremely tall Iowa native Michael Wacha on the mound for the Padres. He was very good last year for Red Sox against the Twins so we will see if that success continues. Louie Varland has pitched ok with no decisions since being called up so it would be nice to seem him get settled and pitch a good game.
Thing I Learned Today: Nelson Cruz plays for the Padres.
Game time 6:40 with decent temps and a slight chance for rain.
Did anyone realize that this band was still kicking? Just me? Ah... well, they're not anymore. They always had a little more depth to them than they were maybe given credit for if you only knew them from songs like "Fat Lip".
I haven't listened to much of their music in quite a while, but I enjoyed their album Chuck quite a bit back in the day. 27 years is a good run.
We open up nibbish week with a blatant rip off of "Check Your Head" era Beastie Boys.
That's not an insult, "Check Your Head" era Beastie Boys were awesome, and so is this.
Manifestly annoying first inning in progress.
This was surprisingly funky.
A week ago, I said that playing the Royals, Sox, and Clevelanders at 7-3 would be a disappointment. They lost that game, then infuriatingly lost two against Chicago. So...now 7-3 is the best they can hope for.
Luckily, Sonny Gray is on the mound today, and he doesn't believe on site things like occasionally giving up runs. Of course, with the way our non-Buxton offense has been going, there might be a surfeit of runs, in general. Let's hope for another 2-0 game in our favor.
