Pitcher Clark Griffith was a star for the Cubs before jumping to the White Sox when the American League was formed. Later, of course, was the owner of the Twins franchise while it was still in Washington. His adopted son, Calvin, brought the team to Minnesota.

Ron Cash was drafted by Minnesota in the sixth round in 1969, but did not sign. Other than that, no players connected to the Twins were born on this day.

This Week in Twins Transactions

Brian Dinkelman signed as a minor league free agent.
Jared Burton signed as a minor league free agent.
Brendan Wise signed as a minor league free agent.
Jamey Carroll agreed to terms on a two-year contract.

The Rochester Red Wings website reports that the Twins have also signed Matt Carson, Samuel Deduno, Phil Dumatrait, Luis Perdomo, and Wilkin Ramirez as minor league free agents.  These transactions have not shown up on the lists I use yet; presumably they will next week.
