Kyle Gibson makes a successful 2012 debut. Rene Tosoni begins a rehab assignment. This is as close to a minor league off-day as we get.

July 11, 2012: Familiar
Mauer reaches base at a 1.000 clip and the home team still loses. Been there.
Earth, Wind & Fire – Shining Star
sure, this is a completely obvious and contrived choice to play during all-star week, but is that really any different than the all-star game itself?

All-Star Game 2012 – Kauffman Stadium, KC
Predictions:
- Neither starter gets a quality start, but one of them is declared the winner.
- Baby Jeebus -- two walks. Hey, he's a machine!
- A Tigers error. Nah, that's too easy.
- Joe Nathan -- one baserunner, no runs, and no camera time as FOX spends his half inning on an interview with [best guess: Seligula]
- Countless inane comments by the announcers. Again, too easy.
- KEY PHRASE OF THE GAME: "And how about those Pirates?!"
Enjoy!
Minor Details: Games of 7/9
The top of the order comes through for New Britain. Matt Capps makes a successful rehab appearance. Travis Harrison has a huge day for the E-Twins.

July 10, 2012: King Prince
Prince Fielder is the second man to win multiple Home Run Derbies. Does he follow it up with an AL win tonight? Not if Joe Mauer has anything to say about it! Wait, that doesn't work...

2012 Home Run Derby
Why do I keep putting up with Berman, year after year, to watch repetitive batting practice? I think it has something to do with being able to see baseball's best watching on the sidelines, being kids.
