  1. I just saw a commercial for Pompeii with Kiefer Sutherland and Kit Harrington. It looked awful, but I would watch a movie where Jack Bauer was part of the Night's Watch.

          1. I've been so corrupted by that impression that I cant see Lian Neeson without thinking 'quickly! theres no time!'

    1. When I saw the Arrow Awards a few months ago, I was flabbergasted that Kiefer and Kevin Bacon both were making numerous commercials in the UK. Kiefer had one about trying to open a bakery that was actually pretty funny and Kevin Bacon had one mocking many of his past roles that was excellent.

  2. Well, since the CoC title mentions Love, let's see if I can get this to work- edit: nope, that wasn't right. I'll try again in a reply.

boxscoregeeks.com has a Wins Produced graphic for every team and lots of other advanced stats stuff for the NBA. The Timberwolves are doing their best to break the model, unfortunately in the wrong direction.

    1. Ugh, that wins produced chart has solidified... no, strengthened my distaste for JJ Barea as a part of this team.

      1. The Wins Produced chart was what I was trying to link in. Barea is so bad, the logo looks like a smudge dot on my screen.

      1. The backup point guard is in negative territory. I hope that the organization stops ignoring this position and starts drafting some point guards.

      2. Houston with a pretty good correlation between good players and playing time. Who's the genius coaching that club?

  3. This afternoon I have a telephone interview for a student affairs position at my current university. I think I'm a very attractive – and somewhat unconventional – candidate for the position. I've read up a bit on student development theory and I didn't come across anything that wasn't congruent with how I've handled informal advising encounters as a teacher. There's a lot that excites me about this position, so I'm hoping it goes well. Any spare good thoughts directed my way this afternoon would be appreciated.

      1. They have to be real chickens, not KFC. And maybe we'll get you some candlesticks. Those always make a nice gift.

    1. Best of luck! I worked in student affairs at two different institutions before law school, and the biggest thing I would communicate is letting the students make their mistakes while slowly holding them accountable.

  4. The NFL has issued its report on the Incognito/Martin matter.

"The Report concludes that three starters on the Dolphins offensive line, Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey, engaged in a pattern of harassment directed at not only Jonathan Martin, but also another young Dolphins offensive lineman and an assistant trainer," Wells said in a press release. "The Report finds that the assistant trainer repeatedly was the object of racial slurs and other racially derogatory language; that the other offensive lineman was subjected to homophobic name-calling and improper physical touching; and that Martin was taunted on a persistent basis with sexually explicit remarks about his sister and his mother and at times ridiculed with racial insults and other offensive comments."

See, Incognito was unfairly singled out. It was the whole line that was doing it!

      1. Not poor timing. He pretty obviously was trying to frame the story, knowing that he was gonna get slammed in the report. What a dick.

        1. If he knew that he was going to get slammed, how did he think the "truth" was going to "bury" Martin? It looks even worse, especially considering that it extended to an assistant trainer. You might be right, but man, his framing leaves something to be desired.

            1. He thinks he's pretty witty though.

          1. [Video didn't embed.]

Darren Woodson puts some blame on Jonathan Martin for not keeping it in the locker room. This isn't about Martin. He wasn't the only person bullied. These guys were way out of line and there is no place for this.

      1. I think it's possible (not certain, but possible) that the head coach didn't know, but if so, there had to be assistant coaches who knew and made the decision that it was best not to tell him.

        1. A video of the Miami coach addressing these issues:

          1. Yup, it was the name that did it for me.

The made-up draft picks' names were pretty awesome, too.

      1. The worst part is that there isn't 20 other cat curling clips.
The best part is that I followed that up with a clip of Canadian SportsCenter's top 10 shots from the first round of the 2010 Olympic qualifying trials.
I think it lies somewhere in the uncanny valley.

  5. Just noticed I typed "too" when I meant "two" in an email message for work. I hope my colleague has the patients to forgive me.

  6. Now, here's some world class snark. Author is from the NY Daily News.

      1. I was thinking "duh, coyote", but I suppose the Runners are far enough south there might be gray foxes around there.

By the shape of the head, I'd still put my money on coyote, though.
