Minor Details: Games of June 17

Tyler Duffey has an outstanding game and Oswaldo Arcia gets it going for the Red Wings.  Max Kepler continues to tear up the Southern League.  Two four-run innings carry the Miracle.  A shutout for the Kernels.  A tough game for the DSL Twins.

ROCHESTER 7, SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 1 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  James Beresford was 3-for-5 with a triple, scoring once and driving in two.  Oswaldo Arcia was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Danny Santana was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.

Pitching star:  Tyler Duffey struck out nine in eight shutout innings, giving up six hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Gregorio Petit was 2-for-3 with a double.  Cole Figueroa was 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Ben Gamel was 2-for-5 with a double.

The game:  It was scoreless through three, but a six-run fourth pretty much settled things.  The runs scored on a single, a double, and five more singles.  Two of the last three singles were infield singles.

Of note:  Eric Fryer was 1-for-5 with an RBI.  Danny Ortiz was 1-for-4 with a run.

JACKSONVILLE 8, CHATTANOOGA 4 IN CHATTANOOGA

Batting stars:  Max Kepler was 4-for-5 with a triple, scoring once and driving in two.  Niko Goodrum was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Travis Harrison was 2-for-3 with a walk.

Pitching stars:  Brett Lee pitched 6.1 innings, giving up two runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts.  Brandon Peterson pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk with one strikeout.  Tim Shibuya pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit with one strikeouts.

Opposition stars:  Matt Juengel was 2-for-4 with a grand slam (his twelfth homer) and a walk, scoring twice.  Austin Nola was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Terrence Dayleg was 1-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.

The game:  The Lookouts scored two in the second and one in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead.  It held until the seventh, when the Suns put together an eight-run inning.  Dayleg had a two-run double and Juengel capped the inning with a grand slam.

Of note:  Jorge Polanco was 0-for-5.  Miguel Sano was 0-for-5.  Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-5 with a run and an RBI.

FORT MYERS 9, DAYTONA 5 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Logan Wade was 2-for-3 with a home run (his second) and a walk, scoring twice.  Jason Kanzler was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs.  Zach Granite was 0-for-2 with two walks and two RBIs.

Pitching stars:  Todd Van Steensel pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.  Luke Westphal struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up two walks.

Opposition stars:  Alex Blandino was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.  Sebastian Elizalde was 1-for-2 with a run and two RBIs.  Jon Matthews was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

The game:  It was scoreless through three.  Each team scored four in the fourth.  The Tortugas took a 5-4 lead in the fifth, but Wade homered in the sixth to tie it 5-5.  Wade also had a two-run single in a four-run seventh that put the Miracle in control of the game.

Of note:  Alex Swim was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Chad Christensen was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run.  Kohl Stewart pitched four innings, giving up four runs on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

CEDAR RAPIDS 2, BURLINGTON 0 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Batting stars:  Nick Gordon was 3-for-4 with a double.  Edgar Corcino was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.  Alex Real was 2-for-3 with a run.

Pitching stars:  Ethan Mildren struck out eight in 5.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and three walks.  Randy LeBlanc struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  Cameron Booser struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Wade Wass was 2-for-4 with a double.  Michael Bolaski pitched six innings, allowing two runs on seventh hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

The game:  With two out and none on in the first, Zack Larson and Alex Real singled and Corcino delivered a two-run double.  The Bees best scoring chance came in the seventh, when with two out they got two singles and a walk to load the bases, but a ground out ended the inning.

Of note:  Tanner English was 1-for-4.  Larson was 1-for-3 with a run.

DSL DODGERS 6, DSL TWINS 1 AT DODGERS

Batting stars:  Francisco Hernandez was 1-for-3 with a home run.  Gorge Munoz was 2-for-4.  Jose Bermudez was 2-for-4.

Pitching star:  Jadison Jimenez struck out five in five innings, giving up one run on four hits with no walks.

Opposition stars:  Daniel Padilla was 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, scoring three times and driving in three.  Romer Cuadrado was 1-for-5 with a home run.  Leonardo Crawford struck out seven in five innings, allowing four hits and two walks.

The game:  The Dodgers got one in the third, Cuadrado homered in the sixth, and Padilla hit a two-run homer in the seventh to put the Dodgers up 4-0.  Hernandez homered in the eighth to get the Twins on the board, but the Dodgers added two more in the ninth.

Of note:  Edwin Franco was 0-for-2 with two walks.  Antonio Munoz was 1-for-4.  Darling Cuesto was 0-for-4.  Jorge Parra was 0-for-4.
