  2. Justin Morneau was activated by the White Sox today. That didn't take long. When the Twins were in Chicago, he was still working out with the team and had not gone to the minors to get some at-bats yet. This season might be a lot like Kendrys Morales' time with the Twins for Morneau, although Kendrys didn't go to the minors at all.

  3. Currently engaged in an argument (via email) about whether the infinite sum of the natural numbers is or is not -1/12.

    1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+...................... = -1/12

    I feel like I've really made it as a professor when I'm getting crackpot theories emailed to me.

      1. This was exactly the video offered as proof,

        as someone else said, what this video proves is that there is a function such that f(1+2+3+4+5+.....) = -1/12.

        But you just can't get there using actual mathematical principles.

  4. Hold the phone...Has Pablo Picasso always been in the corner of this photo, or did somebody edit? Furthermore, WHY is there a Pablo Picasso bobblehead in this image? Additionally, why is there a Pablo Picasso bobblehead at all?... actually, that part I'm fine with. Finally, what shadow on the wall in my head lead me to guess, accurately, that it was in fact a Pablo Picasso Bobblehead...

  5. Happy birthday, bS. I celebrated by changing to front rotors and pads on my car because they were walkedw/grooved like crazy. It went frighteningly well; everything came off easily and took less then two hours. I'm a little concerned.

    I was going to stain the deck this afternoon, but the stupid 20% chance of rain happened this morning.

  6. Also, my oatmeal brown ale made it to the final round of the Hometown Brewdown competition. Final judging is tomorrow and I get a free ticket to the brew test for making it this far, if I can convince my wife to let me go. If it wins, it'll be commercially brewed by the Hop Garden, so that's potentially exciting.

    1. Now THAT is pretty cool. You are gonna buy bombers for all the Citizens, right?!

      1. I believe it'll be canned and I would get three cases, so yeah, I could send some of of it happens.

          1. It's funny that it might even happen at all with a brown ale, which is a style I've historically had trouble with until the last year or so.
