Minor Details: Games of June 4

One win, two losses.  Ninth-inning meltdowns waste strong starting pitching by Kohl Stewart and Tyler Watson.

MOBILE 6, CHATTANOOGA 4 IN CHATTANOOGA

The Lookouts scored four in the seventh to take a 4-2 lead, but the BayBears were cool enough to get four in the ninth and win it.  Jared Walsh hit a two-run homer to bring home the lead runs.

Sean Miller was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Alex Perez was 2-for-4.  LaMonte Wade was 2-for-5 and is batting .303.  Zander Wiel was 0-for-5 and is batting .310.

Kohl Stewart struck out seven in six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on nine hits and a walk.  Tyler Jay struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  His ERA is 1.59.

PALM BEACH 4, FORT MYERS 3 IN PALM BEACH

Mitchell Kranson hit a two-run single in the fifth to give the Miracle a 3-1 lead.  It stayed there until the ninth, when the Cardinals scored three times.  They were aided by an error, a hit batsman, and an infield popup that no one could be bothered to catch.

Jimmy Kerrigan was 2-for-4 with a walk.  Shane Carrier was 0-for-4 and is batting .067.

Tyler Watson, making his high-A debut, pitched eight innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks.  He struck out four.

DSL TWINS 15, DSL CARDINALS BLUE 4 AT CARDINALS

The Twins scored eight runs in the first and were never threatened.  Francisco Martinez hit a three-run triple, but the twins also got the benefit of four walks, two hit batsmen, and an error in the inning.  The Cardinals made six errors in the game.

Luis Gomez was 3-for-6.  Carlos Aguilar was 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple, and two walks, scoring three times and driving in three.  Jesus Feliz was 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs.  Brahiap Carrillo was 2-for-5 with a walk and scored three times.

Jesus Toledo struck out six in four innings, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks(!).  Jose Guevera struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and two walks.

  1. I try to keep the pictures current to a player's current team. Though it's convenient, it's always a little sad when I can use the same picture for extended amounts of time.
