Minor Details: Games of June 14

A solid game for Adalberto Mejia.  The Lookouts offense hit the "off" button.  Ben Rortvedt moves up and keeps hitting.  Another big day for Alex Kirilloff.  Another walkoff win for the DSL Twins.

ROCHESTER 3, BUFFALO 1 IN BUFFALO

Kennys Vargas hit a two-run single in a three-run first and the Red Wings made it stand up.  The lone Bisons run came in the third inning.

Vargas was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.  Zack Granite was 2-for-5.

Adalberto Mejia struck out six in six innings, giving up one run on four hits and three walks.  Nick Anderson struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  John Curtiss pitched a perfect inning, striking out one.  His ERA is 2.22.

BIRMINGHAM 3, CHATTANOOGA 0 IN BIRMINGHAM

Ryan Brett hit a two-run homer in the fourth and Trey Michalczewski singled home one more in the fifth.  In their last five games, the Lookouts have scored one, two, one, fourteen, and zero runs.  The average looks good, but the results do not.

Andy Wilkins was 0-for-3 and is batting .385.

Omar Bencomo struck out seven in five innings, giving up three runs on nine hits and two walks.  His ERA is 2.23.  Tyler Jay pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.  His ERA is 2.60.  Cody Stashak struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  He has struck out 35 in 27.2 innings.

PALM BEACH 3, FORT MYERS 2 IN PALM BEACH (10 INNINGS)

Chase Pinder homered in the eighth to tie it 2-2.  A pair of strikeouts kept the Miracle from taking advantage of the Manfred Rule.  The Cardinals had two out in the bottom of the inning, but Shane Billings singled in the losing run.

Ben Rortvedt was 3-for-4 and is batting .400 since joining Fort Myers.  Travis Blankenhorn was 2-for-5.  Taylor Grzelakowski was 1-for-3 with a home run (his sixth) and two walks.

Charlie Barnes pitched 5.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits and three walks.  He struck out five.

CEDAR RAPIDS 10, KANE COUNTY 3 IN KANE COUNTY

The Kernels scored four in the third to break a 1-1 tie.  Alex Kirilloff hit a two-run homer in the inning.

Kirilloff was 4-for-6 with two home runs (his twelfth and thirteenth) and four RBIs.  He is batting .329.  Robby Rinn was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.  He is batting .351.  David Banuelos was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.  Royce Lewis was 2-for-5 with a double and a walk, scoring twice.  Jose Miranda was 2-for-6 with two doubles.

Bailey Ober put together consecutive good games for the first time.  He pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk.  In his last two games, his ERA has fallen from 7.86 to 5.58.

DSL TWINS 12, DSL ANGELS 11 AT TWINS

It was 1-1 through five and 5-5 through seven.  The Angels trailed 7-6 but scored five in the ninth to go ahead 11-7.  The Twins came back with five in the bottom of the ninth to win it.  They had three singles, four walks, and a hit batsman in the inning.  Luis Milla brought home the winning run with an RBI single.

Francisco Martinez was 4-for-5 with a home run and a triple, scoring three times and driving in five.  He is batting .348.  Milla was 2-for-3 and is batting .385.  Victor Heredia was 0-for-3 with two walks and three runs and is batting .371.  Jeferson Morales was 0-for-3 with a walk and scored twice.  He is batting .370.  Ruben Santana was 1-for-5 and is batting .323.

Osiris German struck out six in four innings, giving up an unearned run on two hits and three walks.  His ERA is 2.53.  Danny Moreno pitched a perfect inning.  The winning pitcher was Brahiap Carrillo, normally an outfielder, who came in to pitch in the top of the ninth with the score 10-7.

The game featured nineteen walks, five hit batsmen, and ten wild pitches.
