Minor Details: Games of July 5

Brent Rooker remains a doubles machine.  No offense for the Miracle.  Another stellar game for Bailey Ober.  The E-Twins get blown out.  A ninth-inning win for the GCL Twins.  Luis Milla keeps hitting.

PAWTUCKET AT ROCHESTER (1/2 INNING--SUSPENDED)

They played a scoreless top of the first before the rain came.  Hard to understand why they even started the game, but maybe the weather radar was out of order or something.

BIRMINGHAM 3, CHATTANOOGA 2 IN CHATTANOOGA

The Barons scored three in the fifth and it was all they needed.  The Lookouts had men on first and third with none out in the ninth, but their last three batters struck out.

Brent Rooker was 2-for-4 with a double.  It was his twenty-second double, second in the league.  Luis Arraez was used as a pinch-hitter in his AA debut and struck out.

Dietrich Enns struck out eight in 4.2 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and no walks.  Sam Clay struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up two walks.  Williams Ramirez struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  Cody Stashak pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

DUNEDIN 2, FORT MYERS 1 IN FORT MYERS (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Kacy Clemens hit a two-run homer in the second and that was all the Blue Jays needed.  The lone Miracle run came on a Travis Blankenhorn homer in the fourth.  They did not get a baserunner after that.

Blankenhorn was 1-for-3 and the home run was his eighth.  Alex Kirilloff was 0-for-3 and is batting .345.  Miguel Sano was 0-for-3 and is batting .308.

Ervin Santana started and pitched four innings, giving up two runs on three hits and no walks and striking out two.  Adam Bray struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up two hits.  His ERA is 1.35.

DUNEDIN 1, FORT MYERS 0 IN FORT MYERS (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

The lone run scored on an RBI single by Kevin Smith in the seventh.  The Miracle had just three hits, none after the fourth inning.

Miguel Sano had two of the hits, going 2-for-3 to raise his average to .333.  Alex Kirilloff was 0-for-3 and is batting .328.

Charlie Barnes pitched 6.1 innings, giving up one run on six hits and three walks and striking out three.

CEDAR RAPIDS 8, WISCONSIN 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Timber Rattlers got a run in the first, but the Kernels came back with three in the second, three in the third, and two in the fourth.  Jordan Gore gave Cedar Rapids the lead with a three-run homer in the second.

Gore was 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs.  He is batting .311.  After an 0-for-19, Jared Akins went 2-for-4 with a triple, raising his average to .087.  Royce Lewis was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, batting .325.  Robby Rinn was 0-for-4 and is batting .322.

Bailey Ober struck out twelve in seven innings, giving up one run on three hits and no walks.  Jared Finkel pitched two shutout innings, giving up a walk and striking out one.

KINGSPORT 7, ELIZABETHTON 1 IN ELIZABETHTON

The Mets scored two in the second and led all the way.  The Twins got their lone run in the bottom of the second but got no closer.

Ryan Jeffers was 1-for-3 with a walk and is batting .404.  Trevor Casanova was 1-for-4 with a double and is batting .359.  Lean Marrero was 0-for-2 with a walk and is batting .344.  Yunior Severino was 1-for-4 and is batting .341.  DaShawn Keirsey was 0-for-2 with two walks and is batting .313.

Andrew Cabezas struck out four in four innings but gave up three runs on four hits and no walks.

GCL TWINS 2, GCL ORIOLES 1 AT TWINS

Each team scored once in the eighth to make it 1-1.  In the bottom of the ninth, a walk, a bunt, an intentional walk, and an accidental walk loaded the bases.  Austin Hale then singled home the winning run.

Hale was 1-for-2 and is batting .385.  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 1-for-2 and is batting .371.  Gabe Snyder was 0-for-2 with three walks and is batting .318.  Estamy Urena was 0-for-3 with two walks and is battting .303.  Willy Joe Garry was 0-for-2 with a walk and is batting .095.

Kai-Wei Teng struck out seven in five shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks.  Zach Featherstone struck out two in a scoreless inning and gave up three walks.  His ERA remains zero through three innings.  Erik Cha pitched two innings, giving up an unearned run on no hits and no walks.  His ERA remains zero through 5.1 innings.  J. T. Perez pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one.  His ERA remains zero through 3.1 innings.

DSL TWINS 4, DSL CARDINALS BLUE 1 AT TWINS

The Twins broke a 1-1 tie with two in the sixth and added a run in the seventh.

Luis Milla was 3-for-4 and is batting .327.  Wander Valdez was 2-for-4 with a triple.  Ruben Santana was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks and is batting .361.  Jeferson Morales was 1-for-3 with a double and is batting .338.  Victor Heredia was 0-for-4 and is batting .321.

Cristian Castro pitched six innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks and striking out four.  Yordin Mateo pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks and striking out one.
