Minor Details: Games of September 9

Royce Lewis did his best, but it wasn't enough.  One bad inning sinks the Kernels.

DAYTONA 6, FORT MYERS 2 IN DAYTONA (CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES GAME 3)

The Tortugas scored one in the first and one in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead.  Royce Lewis hit a solo home run in the sixth and another in the eighth, leaving the Miracle down 3-2, but Daytona scored three in the bottom of the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Lewis was 2-for-4 with two home runs, giving him three in the series.  Jose Miranda was 2-for-4 with a double.

Brusdar Graterol struck out six in five innings, giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk.

Fort Myers leads the best-of-five series 2-1.

PEORIA 5, CEDAR RAPIDS 0 IN PEORIA (SEMIFINAL GAME 2)

Peoria scored all the runs in the game in the third inning.  A walk, a single, and a hit batsman loaded the bases and three consecutive singles brought home four runs.  A fifth scored on a wild pitch.

Ryan Jeffers was 2-for-4.  Ben Rodriguez was 2-for-4.

Blayne Enlow pitched three innings, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk and striking out two.  Melvi Acosta pitched four shutout innings, giving up three hits.  Moises Gomez struck out all three men he faced.

Peoria wins the best-of-three series 2-0.
