SYRACUSE 7, ROCHESTER 3 IN ROCHESTER (8 1/2 INNINGS--RAIN)

The Red Wings scored three in the seventh to tie it, but the Mets scored four in the eighth to win it.  Mike Miller was 2-for-3 with a walk. He is batting .255.  Ronald Torreyes was 2-for-4.  He is batting .256.  Ramon Flores was 2-for-5.  He is batting .301.  Denny Bentley made his AAA debut (after spending the season at Elizabethton) and did very well, striking out two in two shutout innings and allowing only a walk.  The Red Wings are 70-69, tied for third, five games back.  They have been eliminated from playoff contention.

MONTGOMERY 11, PENSACOLA 7 IN MONTGOMERY

The Biscuits scored five in the third to take a 7-2 lead.  Ryan Costello was 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, and three RBIs.  He is batting .234.  Trevor Larnach was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.  He is batting .292.  Travis Blankenhorn was 2-for-5.  He is batting .277.  Caleb Hamilton was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer (his sixth), a walk, and two runs.  He is batting .223.  Jonathan Cheshire pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a walk and striking out one.  His ERA remains zero in 13.2 innings.  The Blue Wahoos are 37-31, in third place, three games back.  They have qualified for the playoffs because they have the second-best overall record in their division.  They will play Biloxi in a best-of-five series.

CEDAR RAPIDS 5, BELOIT 1 IN BELOIT

The Kernels scored four in the third to take control of the game.  They had seven hits, but no Kernel had more than one.  Cody Funderburk struck out eight in six innings, giving up one run on five hits and two walks.  His ERA is 4.68.  Rickey Ramirez pitched three shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks and striking out one.  His ERA is 2.30.  The Kernels are 38-31, tied for third, seven games back.  They have qualified for the playoffs because they finished second in the first half.  They will play Quad Cities in a best-of-three series.

END OF THE MINOR LEAGUE REGULAR SEASON

The Twins will have two teams in the playoffs, Pensacola and Cedar Rapids.  They would have had three, as Fort Myers qualified for the playoffs, but the Florida State League playoffs were cancelled due to the threat of Hurricane Dorian.  The GCL Twins were in contention for a playoff spot, but the end of the Gulf Coast League season was similarly cancelled.
