Mikal Cronin – Weight

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0F7R6nBCe10

I was all set to put "Song For Zula" here, but when I woke up this morning, something with a little more 'zip' felt right. I know bootsy spun one of his other songs earlier this year, but I couldn't help myself.

I've never been a huge fan of Ty Segall, but his bass player put out one of the few best guitar pop-rock albums of the year. So many good hooks to be had here.

Pixel Perfect Memories: FTL

Genre: Rougelike-like (in space!)
Difficulty: 7 (keeping in mind that I've made it to the final boss three times, and never beaten him... on easy)

The rebels are winning the war, and you are the Federation's last chance. Armed with information, some weak weapons, and a skeleton crew, you must race to the Federation's headquarters to prevent final, crushing defeat. Along the way, you'll do things like route power between your ship's systems, make sure your spaceship is properly maintained, and ensure that everyone doesn't suffocate.

Also, you'll die. A lot.

Game 154: Twins @ A’s

I've been going at this all wrong.

All this time, I thought the Twins hated me, a loyal fan. Lately, though, I've been seeing things differently.

* Crisp fall afternoons are great times for walks and the like, so the Twins made sure that their fans were able to go about their business without having to worry about pesky pennant chases, like that attention starved team from Cleveland.
* The Rays selfishly play an 18 inning game, just so that their playoff hopes remain alive, giving their fans insomnia. The Twins know that their fans' sleep is important, so when they start a game late, they make sure they lose quickly, so as to give their fans a chance at an earlier bedtime.
* Weekend afternoons are to be savored, so when the A's send a perfectly serviceable pitcher like Jarrod Parker to the mound, the Twins send Pedro Hernandez, so you know you probably don't even have to start watching. "You've had a long week", the Twins says, "why don't you go play some video games? I'll be fine." Don't mind if I do, Twins... don't mind if I do.

The Twins really do love us, and they're proving it by letting us go.

Game 147: Rays @ Twins

Andrew Albers vs. Matt Moore.

Not to say that any of the remaining Twins games look hopeful on paper, but this one really doesn't. They play against a motivated team, facing an All-Star caliber pitcher who strikes out just shy of a batter an inning.

Our fine starter, meanwhile, walks a batter every other start (seriously, he walks absolutely nobody, it's ridiculous - not quite 2005 Carlos Silva ridiculous, but still). Unfortunately, batters are more likely to strike out against the drunk girls at the bar after the game than they are against Albers.

So, obviously this one's a win, right?
