2025 Game Log 23 – White Sox at Twins

After coming off a nice series win against the Mets, the Twins lose all three in Atlanta and come home to a begin a six game stand against the lowly White Sox and the improving Angels. If the Twins want to be playing meaningful games in August and September, it really feels like winning at least 4 or 5 of these games is crucial.

Bailey Ober on the mound for the Twins and he's pitched well as he gets distance from his annual first game of the year blow out. Davis Martin for the Whities and he has a stat line that one would expect from a no-name pitcher for a last place team.

Game time at 6:40 and the weather should be nice for a ballgame. Not a lot of attention on this team right now given the NBA and NHL playoffs, NFL draft, etc. Could be a good time to just play some decent ball under the radar and be there when the fans look for some excitement for the summer.

2025 Game Log 18 – Mets at Twins

I think we have come to the conclusion that the Twins have had an ugly start to the season. Winning percentage under .300, ass bats signed up for an extended stay, key players injured, bad defense and poor baserunning on top of it all. It's especially disappointing since it's pretty similar to how the Twins ended the last six weeks of the 2024 season. Fans are voting with their pocket book too by not showing up at games. Last night had an announced crowd of just over 10,000 but by all accounts, maybe 7,000 in the attendance (granted it was a cold, blustery, wet night). With Wild and T-wolves in the playoffs and NFL draft in 9 days, probably even less attention granted to the Twins at least through April.

Bailey Ober on the mound and he's pitched well after his opening "I'm actually kind sick" first start. Tyler Migell (brother of former Twin Taylor Migell) for the Mets. So no relief in sight for the ass bats. Also the weather should be a lot better, although still in low 50s by first pitch.

Game time at 6:40 and this game is on "over the air" TV - FOX 9 (KMSP-TV).

2025 Game Log XVII: New York Metropolitans vs. Minnesota Twins

Truth be told, I haven't watched a lot of baseball this season. Very little, in fact. If the Wolves are on, even though they take some crushing loses here and there, they're at least fun, so I flip over there. Even the Wild are more fun, and it's been a frustrating year. Anyway, no Wolves or Wild tonight. No Loons either. Guess this is what I'll have on tonight. Go Team!

2025 Game 14: Tigers at Twins

David Festa gets the call to step in for Pablo Lopez tonight. He pitched way more last year than I realized (13 starts!), and hopefully he's grown as both a pitcher and a person since then. Not that I know anything about him personally, I just generally like the idea of people continuing to improve themselves in any way. We can all get on board with that, right?

Reese Olson goes for Detroit, and hopefully the Twins' offense breaks him to pieces. See what I did there? Because his name is Reese?

Also because our offense has been bad...

Anyway, this is the first Friday game of the year, so... enjoy the Twins on a Friday night, I guess?

2025 Game 13: Twins at Royals

DAY GAME ALERT!
First pitch at 1:10 p.m.

The Twins snapped a three-game losing streak last night and have a chance to split their four-game series with KC this afternoon. Not much has gone right for the Twins coming out of the gate this year.  The starting pitching has been spotty and short and we've lost our ace to the IL for the foreseeable future with a tweaked hamstring. The bullpen is overworked already and that's when you see breakdowns in relief situations which we have definitely seen. And then there's the across-the-board lack of offense from this lineup. I don't know, maybe we need a rank summer sausage to banish the ass-bats and get things going at the plate.

Bailey Ober takes the mound today for the Twins. He's 0-1 after two starts, one of them abbreviated by performance, and he sports a 12.15 ERA and 2.40 WHIP coming into the game. The Royals counter with right-hander Michael Wacha. He hails from Iowa City, Iowa and his nickname is Wachamole. In two starts he's pitched 9.2 innings to a 4.66 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP and recorded 7 strikeouts.

The boys are back in town tomorrow to start a six-game homestand with series against the Tigers and Mets. I'll be at the ballpark for half of them. That's all I got, kids.

2025 Game Log 11 – Twins at Royals

Another poor performance from Twins bats yesterday as they fall to 3-7 for the season. After 10 games Twins have a collective .199 AVG and a .581 OPS which is not going to win you a lot of games, regardless of how well the pitching staff does.

Pablo Lopez on the mound and except for a few opening day early inning jitters, he's been pretty decent this year. Cole Ragans for the Royals.

Game time 6:40.

2025 Game 7: Twins Home Opener (vs. Houston)

After six months of staring out the window waiting for spring, the home opener has finally arrived. The boys are back in town and sitting in a five-way tie for first place in the AL Central. While the boys got off to a slow start (again) this year, dropping four in a row, they managed a series win against the White Sox and make their home debut today sporting a 2-4 record.

After going 0-18 at the plate to start the season, C4 finally got off the schneid and collected a couple of hits last night. The big surprise of the season so far, though, has to be Harrison Bader. Three of his four hits to date have been home runs, he's scored three and driven in eight. So while his batting average and OBP are sitting at .250, he's sporting a 1.125 OPS. That's not sustainable, of course, but Bader has been one of the brighter spot in the lineup so far.

Joe Ryan takes the mound for the Twins in his second start of the season today. He did not factor in the decision in his season debut, but pitched to a 1.80 ERA with five strikeouts. Houston counters on the mound today with Hunter Brown. He lost his first start this year while compiling a 3.00 ERA in six innings. That's all I got. Going to be a long season, hopefully with enough highlights and wins to keep it interesting through September.
