Sam Cooke – Blowing In The Wind

"A Change Is Gonna Come" was released 50 years ago this week. Though a singularly beautiful song, releasing it was a dangerous career move at the time; something which is thankfully strange for us to think about nowadays (pretty cool write-up here). I would have loved to have found a performance of that song, unfortunately it was performed live only once, and Mr. Cooke was killed shortly after. In it's a place, here's a song that old Robbie Zimmerman wrote which Sam immediately picked up on.

I didn't watch the Grammys (nor did I have any intention to), and afterwards, the only thing I heard about that sounded interesting was this. Here it is, including the controversial early hook which left certain participants, err, unhappy.

Not sure how much longer this will stay up, so soak it in while you can.
