Otis Redding – I’ve Been Loving You Too Long
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvw-pA8JhVI
I saw a dude cover this song last night at a locals bar in the 7th ward. It was pretty great, but no one can really hold a candle to the man himself.
Bobby Blue Bland – Ain’t No Love In The Heart of The City
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcF8Aos4XDA
Ain't no love because you aren't around. RIP Bobby, we'll miss you.
Clairy Browne and the Banging Rackettes – Love Letter
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zy8AuzO_XYM
Here's some blues for today. Nevermind the folk that was up for a second.
The Black Eyed Snakes – Bo Diddley
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl8XQ7WGfHQ
All that talk about bands with black in their names made me remember how much I heart the black eyed snakes. Maybe it's just nostalgia for my days in Duluth.
Southside Desire – When I Was Your Queen
these guys are starting to make a well-deserved name for themselves in the MPLS, and i'm certainly in no position to stop them.

Otis Redding – Satisfaction
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGv0Thu3Gas
For those of you playing along at home, this is Otis Redding playing the Rolling Stones' Satisfaction better than they do. 1966
Muddy Waters (and some English punks) – Champagne and Reefer
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_96cCukoklc
These blokes are ruining a perfectly good Muddy Waters tune. Star grab baby. (For those playing along at home Muddy Waters and R.L. Burnside are cousin-in-laws)
Gary Clark Jr. – Bright Lights
-
okay, there a couple things to deconstruct here:
- first of all, sweet chops.
- as someone noted in the comments, the reflection of the crowd in his aviators is pretty sweet.
- dave grohl with the drumming assist.
- yet another sweet double humbucker hollow body.
- jimi hendrix and kurt cobain were noted left handed guitarists that played right handed guitars with the strings reversed. WHY THE HELL IS HIS LEFT HANDED RHYTHM GUITARIST PLAYING AN ACTUAL LEFT HANDED GUITAR WITH THE STRINGS REVERSED!?
R.L. Burnside – See My Jumper Hangin’ On The Line
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_DOnKJ232M
This is the real deal, fellas (and ladies). I just picked up a copy of A A$$ Pocket of Whiskey at the used record store. As your attorney I strongly recommend you go out and buy that, or any other, R.L. Burnside album. 1978.
