I find that in December and January I am always in the mood for punk music. This was the band that caught my ear this year at that moment.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Gold Lion
"Gold Lion" sorta sounds like "Joe Ryan" right
Coachwhips – Hands on the Controls

The video doesn't seem keen to embed for some reason?
I'm not always in the mood for Coachwhips, but when I want twenty minutes of maximum volume, redline, speaker blowing scuzz, they might just be the greatest band ever.
Looks like they put on an....intimate live show, too.
The Regrettes – Hey Now
Man I dig me some indie-pop/riot grrrl/garage punk stuff. I know that's a lot of categories, but I think this group ticks all those boxes. Plus the name is one of the best "-ettes" names you could come up with (Pipettes, Noisettes, etc.). Quick, fun, and sharp.
And since I was surprised to have not seen anything else from them on the site, here's a bonus video:
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Y Control
おとぼけビーバー – 脱・日陰の女
My Best of 2019 is without question Otoboke Beaver. In fact, they should be hitting the stage about the same time this video posts.
おとぼけビ~バ~ – Love Is Short!!
This is normally outside of my wheelhouse, but I picked up their most recent and I LOVE IT!
Ex Hex – Cosmic Cave
I'm surprised it's been five years since the last album.

Le Butcherettes – Witchless C Spot
Another band that I need to pick up their follow-ups.
