2024 Game Log 126 – Twins at Padres

Twins in the second game against a pretty decent Padres team that seems to have found its way after a slow start. Look for another gorgeous day in San Diego in probably one of the nicest MLB parks. With the Royals also surging, they've caught up with the Twins, so it would really be nice to notch a victory tonight. Regardless, should be a fun fall of meaningful baseball.

Bailey Ober on the mound and I don't think there is any doubt at this point that he's the Twins best pitcher and probably a game one starter in the playoffs. Former Twin Martin Perez on for the Padres. He's on his 4th team after departing from the Twins after the 2019 season and a recent pick-up by San Diego. It appears he still has some gas in the tank, but definitely in the twilight of has career.

Not a lot of news on when any injured Twins coming back but hopefully soon with just six weeks left in the season.

Game time 8:40

2024 Game Log 119 – Royals at Twins

Game two of a critical 3-game series against the pesky Royals, a team that made some moves at the trading deadline thinking that they had a shot of at least a wild card berth. Monday's Twins win put a little distance between the two teams so hopefully tonight with another win, the Twins can continue to hold the Royals at bay.

Seth Lugo on for the Royals and he's probably their best pitcher. Not huge strike out guy but he does well. Nothing that the Twins bats can't handle. No announced starter for the Twins yet this morning (I typically write these up before 8:00a). I may get back to fill in, or maybe not. Regardless it's probably someone from St. Paul. UPDATE!!!! Apparently it's Zebby Matthews making his Major League debut. A quick, 7 second look at Baseball Reference tells me this is the first Major Leaguer with the first name Zebby. So go ahead and have a blast Zebby and make all the other Zebbys all around the USA proud of your accomplishment, all four of them have been waiting ages for this day.

Should be a gorgeous night for baseball. First pitch at 6:40.

2024 Game Log 112 – Twins at Cubs

Twins at a season high 15 games over .500 as they play at the friendly confines for the second game against the scuffling Cubs. Guardians also continuing their post all-star game struggles so Twins currently 3.5 games out of first. Closest since May.

Pablo Lopez on the mound for the Twins and had an excellent outing last week. Perfect time to hit that next gear. Shota Imanaga for the Cubs and he's been their best pitcher. I was at Wrigley in June and Imanaga was the pitcher and looked really good. Could be a fun pitcher's duel tonight.

First pitch at 7:05.

2024 Game Log 106 – Twins at Mets

Ouch! Twins got spanked yesterday out in Queens, which is disappointing after taking two of three from both the Phillies and Tigers. Guardians have been scuffling along as well but Twins haven't been able to take advantage. I'm sure however by the end of today's trading deadline some reinforcements will be brought to the clubhouse. WAIT WAIT is that Rodney Dobnak's music I'm hearing.... Cue up the parade route Governor Flanagan, looks like the Twins added a playoff-seasoned veteran.

David Festa for the Twins tonight and while he's shown some ability in the minors, he's had a tough time up at the bigs. Hopefully it's just a matter of time as the Twins could use a decent performance tonight. Sean Manaea for the Mets and he has beautiful hair.

Game time 6:10.

2024 Game Log 100 – Phillies at Twins

We are at 100 games for the season. Wow. Last night the Twins had a nice victory against maybe the best team in the league this year and hoping to keep it going today. Especially important because it appears that the Guardians have started to play like we all thought they would and first place is withing striking distance. Should be an exiting last two months of the season in the AL Central.

Zach Wheeler up for the Phillies and another great arm that the Twins will have to deal with. Simeon Woods Richardson for the Twins and he continues to make the case for being a permanent member of the Twins starting staff.

First pitch at 6:40 and weather should hold out, although conditions ripe for a pop up storm.

2024 Game Log 92 – Twins at White Sox

Twins continue their latest hot streak by taking care of the woeful Chicago White Sox last night and look to continue tonight in the second game of their 3 game series. Twins doing little wrong lately, especially mashing the ball and avoiding strikeouts. It's fun to see a bunch of young players make huge impacts and makes one think the future is bright. Also not only has this hot streak brought the Twins within 5 games of the Guardians, they are sneaking up on the Yankees too for third best record in the AL. Should be a fun summer for baseball, sure would be nice if most of us could watch it on TV.

Bailey Ober on the mound and he continues to impress as a solid #3 or #4 starter. Since I can't see the games on TV, I didn't know that he's 6'9" That's neck tat territory. Wow. Erick Fedde for the Whities and he is easily their best pitcher with 6 wins for a 26 win team and respectable WIP, ERA, etc.

Game time at 7:10 but there's a good chance for rain all evening. Will be interesting to see if they get this in. Rainy tomorrow morning but looks like they could do an afternoon/evening doubleheader on Wednesday.
