Not many could play one little twenty second break immersed in a ten-minute impromptu vamp and make an irresistible, booty-shakin' force that changes the landscape of music forever. There are probably more people in the world today who have – whether they realize it or not – heard a Clyde Stubblefield break or vamp than people who haven't. The Funky Drummer laid the rhythmic foundation of five decades and counting of the most popular music the world has ever known.

You have to admit this is cool.  Dozens of percussionists, a big warehouse, and John Luther Adams' "ultimate environmental piece".

This is a 15-minute edit of a 60-minute piece, which is absolutely worth a listen if you are so inclined.

    okay, there a couple things to deconstruct here:

  • first of all, sweet chops.
  • as someone noted in the comments, the reflection of the crowd in his aviators is pretty sweet.
  • dave grohl with the drumming assist.
  • yet another sweet double humbucker hollow body.
  • jimi hendrix and kurt cobain were noted left handed guitarists that played right handed guitars with the strings reversed. WHY THE HELL IS HIS LEFT HANDED RHYTHM GUITARIST PLAYING AN ACTUAL LEFT HANDED GUITAR WITH THE STRINGS REVERSED!?
