Texas organization (AAA Colorado Springs) places Joe Benson on the seven-day disabled list with a groin injury.

Texas organization (AA Midland) places Tyler Ladendorf on the seven-day disabled list.

The brother of Marv Throneberry, outfielder Faye Throneberry spent much of his career with the Twins franchise while it was still in Washington (1957-1960).  In December of 1960, he was chosen by the Los Angeles Angels in the expansion draft.

Gulf Coast League Preview

The Gulf Coast League gets underway today.  There are sixteen teams in the GCL, divided into four four-team divisions.  They play a sixty-game schedule which ends on August 29.  The four division winners then go to the playoffs.  Teams take the name of their parent clubs.  The Yankees, imperialists that they are, have two teams, which are designated Yankees1 and Yankees2.
