Twins:  Byron Buxton was 0-for-4.

Surprise:  Deven Marrero (Boston) was 1-for-2 with a walk.  Keith Couch (Boston) pitched five shutout innings, giving up five hits and no walks with two strikeouts.

Salt River:  Andrew Aplin (Houston) was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.  Rio Ruiz (Houston) was 2-for-2 with a walk.  Mark Appel (Houston) struck out six in four shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks.

The game:  The game's lone run scored in the eighth, when Aplin delivered a two-out triple with a man on first.  Surprise had the tying run on third with two out in the ninth.

SCOTTSDALE 10, MESA 7 IN MESA

Scottsdale:  Daniel Carbonell (San Francisco) was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and a walk, scoring twice.  Brandon Nimmo (Mets) was 2-for-3 with three walks, scoring once and driving in one.  Joely Rodriguez (Pittsburgh) struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Mesa:  Boog Powell (Oakland) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk.  Matt Olson (Oakland) was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk.  Derek Self (Washington) pitched two shutout innings, allowing two walks.

The game:  Scottsdale built a 9-0 lead after four innings.  They still led 10-2 after six.  Mesa got two in the eighth and three in the ninth and had the tying run up to bat with one out.

GLENDALE 9, PEORIA 0 IN PEORIA

Glendale:  Steven Moya (Detroit) was 2-for-5 with a triple, scoring once and driving in four.  Tim Anderson (White Sox) was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs.  Matt Magill (Dodgers) struck out three in three innings, giving up no hits and two walks.

Peoria:  Jordan Smith (Cleveland) was 2-for-4.  Miguel Almonte (Kansas City) struck out four in 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit.

The game:  Leading 3-0, Glendale scored six in the seventh to put the game out of reach.  Moya had a three-run triple in the inning.
