Game 70: Twins v. Phillies

USA in COPA2016 semi-finals tonight against Lionel Messi and the sky blue-striped Argentines.  Can Clint Dempsey continue to have a tournament for the ages?  How many times will Michael Bradley mishandle a simple pass?  Can Jurgy come up with a decent line-up without Bobby Wood and Jermaine Jones?

What?  Twin log?  Oh yeah, Tyler Duffy v. Aaron Nola.  Beautiful night at the ballpark.  Also Ryan Howard brings his .145 average to Target Field, so that's something too.

    1. Now 6 of 33 HRs vs. Twins. That's 18% of career HRs despite only 4.8% of PAs vs. Twins. Not quite Luis Rivas vs. the KC, since he hit 12 of 20 career HRs vs. Royals.

  1. game log so far -

    TWINS BASEBALL!!
    boo 1st inning runs
    walks will haunt
    triples are sexy
    boo give back runs
    SEND HIM!!

      1. Easy. 1977, 19 games is the Twins record.

That's right, not even the longest this season.

          1. Phillies have been awful offensively, especially of late. If the streak doesn't end this series, I think we're looking at a record of consistent futility.

      1. Yup that wasn't even human.

OTOH, who would have thought that Wondo would be involved in the awfulness that led to the goal (not his foul, but his giveaway leading up to his foul)

  2. Twins have scored 4+ runs in an inning only 4 times prior to today, when they did it twice. They're season high was 5 runs in an inning (done twice). Apparently, having numerous out-machines in your lineup is not conducive to big innings. Also, the Twins set a season high when they scored their 10th run of the game. And that was in the fifth inning.

    1. Well, with 102 relievers on the roster, why would you pitch anyone more than one inning?

and... yes, that was an opposite field double by Dozier. Weird!

          1. I think he had a shot. It looked like he was at second when the throw to second happened. A bad throw to third and he makes it.

  3. Minnesota still allowed Philadelphia to score more runs Tuesday (10) than the Phillies did during their entire six-game homestand last week (9).
