Minor Details: Games of July 28

Byungho Park hits three homers!  Zach Granite delivers a walkoff single.  Sam Gibbons throws six shutout innings!  So does Brady Anderson!

ROCHESTER 13, PAWTUCKET 5 IN PAWTUCKET

Daniel Palka hit a three-run homer in a six-run second that put the Red Wings up 6-0.  The Red Sox closed to 6-3, but Byungho Park and Logan Schafer homered in the seventh to put the game out of reach.  Jason Wheeler pitched five innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Park went 3-for-5 and his home runs in his last three at-bats, his seventh, eighth, and ninth homers of the season.  Palka was 3-for-5 with a double in addition to his fifth homer and is now batting .315.  Jorge Polanco was also 3-for-5.  Schafer was 2-for-5 and the home run was his third.  John Ryan Murphy was 3-for-4.

CHATTANOOGA 4, TENNESSEE 3 IN CHATTANOOGA

The Lookouts lost a 3-0 lead, but Zach Granite delivered an RBI single with one out in the ninth to pull the game out.  David Hurlbut bounced back from a poor game to pitch seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts.  Levi Michael was 3-for-3.  Ryan Walker was 2-for-4 with a double.  Edgar Corcino was 2-for-4 and is batting .306.  Mitch Garver was also 2-for-4.

CEDAR RAPIDS 2, KANE COUNTY 0 IN KANE COUNTY

Sam Gibbons pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  The game was scoreless until the seventh, when Nelson Molina singled home the go-ahead run.  The Kernels also scored in the ninth.  Kuo Hua Lo struck out two in a scoreless inning, lowering his ERA to 1.45 with 39 strikeouts (and 29 walks) in 43.1 innings.  Molina was 2-for-3 with a double and is batting .304.  Chris Ibarra was 2-for-3 with a walk.

BRISTOL 4, ELIZABETHTON 2 IN BRISTOL (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

The Twins led 2-0, but Raul Siri's two-run triple highlighted a four-run fifth that gave the Pirates all the runs they needed.  Ryan Mason pitched a six-inning complete game, giving up four runs on seven hits and no walks with four strikeouts.  Caleb Hamilton was 2-for-3 with a home run.  Brandon Lopez was 1-for-1 with a walk and is batting .358.  Alex Kirilloff was 1-for-3 and is also batting .358.  Travis Blankenhorn was 0-for-3 and is batting .306.

ELIZABETHTON AT BRISTOL (GAME 2--SUSPENDED)

The Twins went down in order in the top of the first, then the rain came.

GCL TWINS 5, GCL ORIOLES 0 AT TWINS

The Twins scored two in the first and two in the second to take control of the game.  Brady Anderson pitched six innings, giving up three hits and no walks with five strikeouts.  He has an ERA of 0.98 and a WHIP of 0.72 with 25 strikeouts and 2 walks in 27.2 innings.  Jordan Balazovic pitched three perfect innings with two strikeouts.  In five professional innings, he has given up no runs, one hit, and one walk.  Jose Miranda was 2-for-3 with a double.  Gorge Munoz was 2-for-4 with a double.  Heiker Meneses, on a rehab assignment, was 2-for-3.  Roni Tapia was 1-for-4 with a home run.  He is now 3-for-35 with two homers.  Aaron Whitefield was 1-for-3 with a walk and is batting .308.

DSL GIANTS 8, DSL TWINS 4 AT GIANTS

The Giants led 3-0 after one.  The Twins cut it to 3-2, but a four-run Giants fifth put the game out of reach.  Melvi Acosta pitched 4.1 innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on nine hits and three walks with two strikeouts.  It was only the second poor start out of nine for Acosta, who still has an ERA of 2.28 and a WHIP of 1.06.  Moris Duran was 2-for-4 with a home run and a double.  Yeremi De La Cruz was 2-for-4 with a homer.  Edgar Herrera was 1-for-4 and is batting .333.  Jorge Parra was 1-for-4 and is batting .310.
