Game 109 : Twins at Rays

The Twins had a win-loss record of 15-11 in the month of July. 3-1 so far in August.  While the Twins have piled up wins lately (43 for the season), they are still bottom of the table in the American League. BUT, only one win behind Tampa (44). This series is a huge one!

Enjoy the game!

  1. remember when Robbie Grossman was going to the Hall of Fame? those were good times.

    1. He still has a .385 OBP since July 1. He's always been good at reaching base. He was a very good pickup. I like that Molitor has not tried to ride the wave with him too long and has been trying to work him in mostly against lefties, which is his strength. He's a very solid 4th OF.

      1. Right. I get that.
But he was mashing taters left and right
        I like taters.
        I'm not being logical tonight.

      1. That is Rosario's second PH HR this season. Yeah I can't think of any other.
Then again I havent watched a lot of games the last two months.

  2. Now if Jorge had just reached base, it would be 3 runs instead of 2 on that home run. Then again, Escobar might not have scored from second base on the homer, right.

  3. If the Twins decide that Rosario can play center field (and I have no idea if he can) Buxton may find himself the odd man out. I still think he'll hit eventually, but he hasn't done anything this year to justify that and the Twins aren't always known for their patience with young players.

    1. Yes, except Rosario hasn't controlled the strike zone any better than Buxton. He's shown he can hit when he gets a pitch in the zone, but the league will eventually remember, oh yeah, we don't have to throw this guy a strike. Wouldn't surprise me if Kepler ends up in CF with Daniel Palka in RF and a combination of Rosario and Grossman in LF.

      1. I know Kepler has played center in the minors. I have no idea how good he is at it, but that certainly seems like another possibility.

    1. It's such a shame we'll have to send him to the minors because of his poor work ethic.

        1. You kid, I assume, but you know that if Sano starts doing better now we'll hear exactly that, that the talk of him going to the minors lit a fire under him and made him work harder and play better.

          1. You assumed correctly. I also fear that the rest of what you say will happen. Sort of like when Morneau got punched.

  4. This is good

Joe Mauer, now batting .402 @ Trop Field, belts 6th double of August. He's had more 2Bs in a month only twice in last 3 years. It's Aug. 5.
