Two pitchers' duels, one of which was spoiled by the Manfred Rule.

ROCHESTER 3, SYRACUSE 2 IN ROCHESTER (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Zander Weil homered in the sixth to break a 2-2 tie.

Batting stars:  Tomas Telis was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.  Weil was 1-for-3 with a home run, his third.

Pitching stars:  Matt Magill was the opener and struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk.  Justin Nicolino struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk.  Mike Morin pitched a perfect inning and struck out one.

Opposition stars:  Dilson Herrera was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer.

Stats:  Drew Maggi was 1-for-2 and is batting .500.  Randy Cesar was 0-for-2 with a walk and is batting .345.  Magill and Morin each have an ERA of zero.

Syracuse scored two in the third and led the rest of the way.

Opposition star:  Ex-Twin Ryan O'Rourke pitched three shutout innings, giving up no hits and two walks and striking out two.

Stats:  Drew Maggi was 0-for-1 with two walks and is batting .333.  Randy Cesar was 0-for-2 with a walk and is batting .323.

Record:  Rochester is 3-9, in sixth (last) place in the International League North, 5.5 games behind Lehigh Valley.

BILOXI 3, PENSACOLA 2 IN BILOXI (10 INNINGS)

All the runs were scored in the tenth.

Batting star:  Luis Arraez was 2-for-4.

Pitching star:  Brusdar Graterol struck out eight in seven shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk.

Opposition star:  Trey Supak pitched six shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks and striking out four.

Stats:  Arraez is batting .356.  Graterol has an ERA of 0.52.  Tyler Jay pitched two-thirds of an inning scorelessly and has an ERa of 2.45.

Record:  Pensacola is 8-4, in first place in the Southern League South, two games ahead of Biloxi and Mississippi.

In the first, Akil Baddoo walked, stole second, went to third on a ground out, and scored on a sacrifice fly for the only run of the game.

PItching stars:  Bryan Sammons struck out six in six shutout innings, giving up two hits and two walks.  Kyle Phillips struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up a walk.

Opposition star:  Tony Dibrell pitched 6.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits and two walks and striking out two.

Stats:  Lewin Diaz was 0-for-3 and is batting .412.  Ben Rortvedt was 1-for-3 and is batting .314.  Travis Blankenhorn was 0-for-3 and is batting .306.  Sammons and Phillips each have an ERA of zero.

Record:  Fort Myers is 9-4, tied for second with Bradenton in the Florida State League South, one game behind Palm Beach.

Trey Cabbage hit a three-run homer in the third and the Kernels led the rest of the way.

Batting stars:  Gabe Snyder was 3-for-4 with a triple, two doubles, a walk, and two RBIs.  Michael Davis was 3-for-4 with a double.  Jacob Pearson was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.  Gabriel Maciel was 3-for-5 with a walk and two runs.  Cabbage was 3-for-6 with a home run (his fourth), a triple, two runs, and five RBIs.

Pitching stars:  Blayne Enlow struck out six in six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks.  Brian Rapp struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  Carlos Suniaga pitched a perfect inning, striking out one.

Opposition star:  Emmanuel Valdez was 2-for-2 with two walks.

StatsMaciel is batting .600.  Synder is batting .455.  Cabbage is batting .364.  Davis is batting .314.  Rapp has an ERA of 1.00.

The Kernels had fifteen hits.  Five players had three hits each.
