FMD 9/25/2020 – Weird Al Covers Everything

Apparently Weird Al covered a bazillion songs on his last tour. True covers, not parodies. A lot of the ones I listened to were pretty straightforward, so I don't know that he added or took away much from the songs. But still. It's Weird Al!

Anyway, you can check it out the whole list - 4+ hours of covers! - here:

And I suppose it's worth making note of this particular TMBG cover:

  1. I saw Weird Al open for The Monkees at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater back in the day, and my favorites were his medley of every single song he ever did about food, and "Living with a Hernia" ("I feel BAD!")

  2. New music Friday.

Lydia Loveless - Daughter. First album of new material in 4 years. She's left Bloodshot Records and released this on her own. News articles mention the issues related to sexual harassment of the husband of one of Bloodshot owners (who has subsequently left) but I thought she was off the label back in 2018 and these revelations came out in 2019. Anyway, she divorced her husband (long-haired bass player), moved to North Carolina and this album definitely reflects on that. Not a lot of piss and vinegar but definitely some good songs. I may not listen obsessively like previous albums but I will include it in rotation.

Bob Mould - Blue Hearts. Speaking of piss and vinegar, holy cow is this an angry album. Reflecting on the times we are currently living, can you blame him? Play this one loud.

There's a bunch more too that will be checking out. Especially Idles. I'll update.

  3. Went to this concert in Grand Junction, CO - had front row seats - does it give away my age if I admit that front row seats to a Weird Al concert was too loud?

      1. I'm pretty sure that about 30 seconds in you can hear Geoff complaining that his earplugs aren't good enough. He uses more colorful language though... πŸ˜‰
