2023 Game Log 24: Yanks at Twins (And Wild/Wolves Playoffs)

We can experience something tonight that has not been aacomplished since 2001. With a Twins victory tonight they will take the season series from the Yankees. Twins have Joe Ryan on the mound and he's been quite effective this year with a 4-0 record, 0.89 WHIP and 10.4 k/9 innings. Nestor Cortes for the Yankees and he's been pretty decent this year as well, even though he took the loss against the Twins last week at Yankee Stadium. Should be a nice, if chilly evening for baseball.

In addition we have Wild and Wolves playoffs tonight. Feel free to use this post to comment as well. Game times are actually Midwest friendly with the Wild set to start at 7:00p and the Wolves at 8:00p. Loons also play tonight against Detroit in the USA Open Cup at 6:30p. So depending on your sport, you are covered tonight. If you just like Football, I guess you can take tonight to put the finishing touches on your mock draft board.

First pitch at 6:40.

  1. The Twins are not available to me on TV tonight, as BSN is operating under the mistaken belief that playoff basketball and hockey are more important than regular season baseball.

  2. The kids ate hoping for the same score in each MN sports game tonight (+100 for basketball). Results are less important to them.

    1. Intermission report: 4 analysts breaking down the bs nature of the call. Rules analyst, as always, defending the refs. The fact that all 4 of the others were in agreement tells you everything.

      1. I'll add here: calls be darned, the Wild are broken on both ends of the special teams play, and that seems to explain the series results so far.

  3. Early farm report:

St. Paul leads Rochester 14-1 in the ninth. Michael Helman has hit two home runs, one of them a grand slam.
Springfield leads Wichita 3-2 in the third. DaShawn Keirsey, Jr. is 2-for-2 with a triple.
Cedar Rapids and West Michigan are scoreless in the seventh. Starter Kyle Jones pitched five shutout innings.
Daytona leads Fort Myers 4-2 in the ninth. Ricky Mineo pitched three shutout innings of relief.

  4. If Jorge is in a slump Aaron Hicks catches that ball. But since he is on fire it just misses his glove and goes for a double.

  5. Missing the busy sports night because I'm seeing Hamlet at the Guthrie (this production includes an intermission after Act III, Scene 1). So far, it's great, but the very proper enunciations of certain words by Hamlet have almost made me laugh a few times because he sounds exactly like Captain Raymond Holt.

    1. I really want to see that performance but man the next few weeks is jammed packed for me.

    1. That the Twins’ first season series win agains the Yankees since…?

Reads the first sentence of the game log and cries a little inside. 😉

  6. If KAT is a Timberwolves player next season he needs to remember how rugged he played this game and apply it to every game
