FCL PIRATES 10, FCL TWINS 6 AT TWINS
The Pirates built a 10-2 lead before the Twins scored four in the eighth to make it look better.
Andres Centeno was 2-for-3 with a walk.
Harold Grant was 2-for-4.
Bryan Acuna hit a three-run homer.
Fredy Michel hit a home run.
Jacob Wozinski struck out six in 4.1 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks.
Yon Landaeta struck out two in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up three walks.
DSL PIRATES GOLD1, DSL TWINS 0 AT PIRATES (7 INNINGS)
Juan Machado homered in the first. The box score does not show why the game only went seven innings--perhaps it was simply mutual agreement.

Mark Grace was drafted by Minnesota in the fifteenth round of the January draft in 1984, but did not sign.

2023 Game Log 81 — Twins at Atlanta
Game 81, halfway through the season so we can take stock of the 2023 Twins team: Good starting pitching. Ass bats. ok bullpen. (Imagine you all get insight like that without a subscription to the Athletic.)
Twins in the second game against the first place Atlanta team. Bryce Elder on the mound for Atlanta and he's a rookie who's done a real nice job this year. It's the Joe Ryan Express for the Twins and let's hope he continues with his excellent ways.

The St. Paul Saints are 43-31, in second place in the International League West, a half-game behind Iowa.
The Wichita Wind Surge is 28-40, in fifth (last) place in the Texas League North, 16.5 games behind Arkansas, a half-game behind fourth-place Northwest Arkansas.
The Cedar Rapids Kernels ended the first half 40-26, in first place in the Midwest League West, seven games ahead of Peoria. In the second half, they are 2-1, tied for second place with Wisconsin, one game behind Peoria.
The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels ended the first half 34-32, in third place in the Florida State League North, 10.5 games behind Clearwater, 1.5 games behind second-place Bradenton. In the second half, they are 1-2, tied for fourth with Dunedin, two games behind Bradenton, one game behind Clearwater and Tampa, who are tied for second.
The FCL Twins are 9-6, in second place in the FCL South, 1.5 games behind the FCL Pirates.
The DSL Twins are 5-11, in seventh place in the DSL South, 6.5 games behind the DSL Giants Black, four games behind the DSL Giants Orange and the DSL Mariners, who are tied for fifth.

The Twins have by far the most strikeouts of any team. Atlanta ranks second in strikeouts per nine (9.64 K/9), a tiny bit ahead of the Marlins (9.57) and Twins (9.56). Out of all qualified pitchers, Strider ranks first in strikeout percentage (39.0%). Pablo López is a distant fifth at merely 30.1%. Joe Ryan is twelfth at 27.4%. If you go by K/9, Strider is at 14.5. There is no one in the 13s or 12s. Ohtani leads the way in the 11s at 11.8. Strider strikes out a ton of batters. Today is a good day for the Twins to shorten up those swings.
