2023 Game 148: Twins at White Sox – Trending Up

Listening to the radio broadcast last night, Gladden made it perfectly clear that this was a White Sox team that would happily give the game away if the other team stayed close. Sure enough, a small lead turned into a laughable lead late. Will this trend repeat itself tonight? Hopefully!

Bailey Ober goes against the 1-8 Jesse Scholtens. It seems like usually the assbats come out against guys like Scholtens, so hopefully that is a trend that isn't repeated.

2023 Game 147: Twins at Bitch Sox

If only there were some way for me to know when it's Thursday...

This is not a game log. It is a reasonable facsimile of a game log thrown together at the last minute when I realized it was not an off day. But it is here.

Twins haven't been winning enough lately, but neither has anyone else in the AL Central so the magic number keeps dropping. Maeda vs. Urena (how do you make an enyay in WordPress?) on the mound.

Play ball!

CUBS 4, SAINTS 3 IN IOWA

Levi Jordan's two-run single in the sixth broke a 2-2 tie.  St. Paul had men on first and second when the game ended.

Yunior Severino was 2-for-4 with a home run, his tenth.
Trevor Larnach was 2-for-4.
Hernan Perez hit a home run, his tenth.

Simeon Woods Richardson struck out five in five innings, giving up one run on three hits and three walks.*
Michael Boyle retired all four men he faced, striking out two.
Jordan Balazovic pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and striking out one.

Woods Richardson got off to an awful start--his ERA in his first eleven starts was 7.47.  But, while his season numbers still don't look very good, he has pitched very well in the second half.  In twelve games (ten starts) in the second half, his ERA is 2.95, his WHIP is 1.20, and his batting average against is .194.  He has struck out 52 and walked 31 in 61 innings.  Too many walks, of course, but his other numbers look a lot better in the second half.  And even the walks are headed in the right direction--he had walked 28 in 47 innings in the first half.

ROCKHOUNDS 2, WIND SURGE 1 IN WICHITA

A sacrifice fly broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth.

Alex Isola was 3-for-4.

Pierson Ohl pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, giving up three hits and a walk and striking out five.
Miguel Rodriguez retired all five men he faced, striking out three.

TODAY'S TILTS

12:08  St. Paul (Randy Dobnak, 5-8, 5.10) at Iowa
6:35  Peoria at Cedar Rapids (Cory Lewis)*
7:05  Midland at Wichita (Travis Adams, 4-10, 5.55)

*Game 2 of the playoff series.  The Kernels trail 1-0.

September 14, 2023: Aural

I('d like to think that I) have pretty sensitive hearing. There's something somewhere in the vicinity of a house or two away that's making a sound almost like a hearing test. Just a flat tone for a second or two that's barely audible. I'm pretty sure I'm not going crazy, though I haven't put any resources into what or where this tone is coming from.
