Arctic Monkeys – Feels Like We Only Go Backwards
I thought of a way to keep myself interested in this for a whole week. If I can keep it working after today, I haven't planned ahead or anything.
The Strokes & Jarvis Cocker – Just What I Needed
Covers? Okay, sure.
(Some naughty language in the intro.)
Chvrches – Do I Wanna Know?
I wasn't paying attention, but last thing I saw was a Nirvana cover, so am I doing covers now?
Sturgill Simpson – In Bloom
One last awesome song covered by an awesome artist to finish up my week.
(Not the greatest video, but whatever).
Bob Dylan – “The Night We Called It A Day”
Paging Can'o'Corn.
Willie & Lukas Nelson – “Just Breathe”
This might not quite fit my stated theme of "newer" artists covering "older" artists, but it's close enough. Besides, this might be my single favorite song released since the turn of the millennium (a question I think about a fair amount) and I honestly don't know if I love the original or the cover more. Either way, enjoy!
J. Roddy Walston & The Business – “Lucille”
Here is a band that I really dig. In fact, I found this cover just because I wanted to play them this week. The Little Richard part is just bonus.
Seriously, these guys have never been played on this site, near as I can tell. Do yourslf a favor and check out both "Heavy Bells" and "Marigold" and go from there.
Haim – “That Don’t Impress Me Much”
So let's see if this works... this video had entirely too much talking and annoying DJs before and after the song, but I can't find a better version. Trying to start it in the right place...
The Revivalists – “To Love Somebody”
The Revivalists are another band that I've been enjoying quite a bit, and their more country take on this Bee Gees song (the best Bee Gees song?) hits that thing where you want a cover song to add something new, and not just duplicate what went before. Anyway, I dig this.
