It seems like it would be worth giving Oswaldo Arcia a few swings in Rochester before the season ends, rather than allowing Clete Thomas to continue taking up space there. Deibinson Romero has quietly had a fairly decent season.
Minor League Team Leaders: Rochester
There are a couple of guys in this city who have nothing more to learn there.
Minor Details: Games of 8/19
Elizabethton uses Twins Baseball to get the lone win. Promising rehab starts for P. J. Walters and Kyle Gibson. A big day for Wilkin Ramirez.
Third Monday Movie Day
My movie watching has been very sparse lately. However, I'm six episodes deep in Game of Thrones and I don't feel like any movie would fulfill my entertainment needs as well as it does anyway.
Also, Breaking Bad.
August 20, 2012: The Waiting
I've got about ten days until I can try my Black IPA to see how well it turned out. As if I wasn't anxious enough, I've been drinking in moderation lately and am kicking around the idea of not having anything until then. Of course, then I won't be able to gauge it properly...

the critics are going nuts over this album (and i noticed a few citizens were fans of mr. ocean previously), and after listening channel orange all weekend, i can see why.

i don't think this is properly representative of his talents, but it's the best live clip out there for now.
Game 120: Twins 1, Mariners 5
Deduno finally picked up a big league loss by going 6 innings with 2 earned runs on 5 hits and 6 walks - the fifth of which pushed across the first Seattle run.
The Good: Glen Perkins pitched a scoreless 8th, striking out the side.
The Bad: The Twins managed 7 hits and took 5 walks in the game, but went 0-10 with RISP. Their lone run came on a Plouffe! sacrifice fly.
The Ugly: Ron Gardenhire - Jeff Gray came into the game in the bottom of the 7th with the Twins trailing by 1 run and Mountie, Donut and Plouffe! due up in the top of the 8th. He managed to give up 3 runs on 4 hits including a 2-run homerun and 2 doubles, walk a batter and essentially bury any chance the Twins had a making things interesting in the last two innings.
The Twins were swept in Seattle, have lost 5 in a row and 9 of their last 10 and currently sit 15 games behind the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. They have the worst record it the American League and 4th worst in baseball. Only the Cubs, Rockies and Astros are in worse shape.
2012 Game 120: Twins at Mariners
Today, Sam Deduno faces Blake Beavan in a matchup where the rest of the country goes "Who the hell are those guys?"
Beavan is a prototypical Twins pitcher - in fact, he might be more of a Twin that most current Twins are - he doesn't strike out many, but his walk rate is outstanding (1.14 per 9 innings). He does give up his fair share of homers, with 17 so far in 102 innings. He's a thoroughly beatable righty, so I assume this is the game the Twins were planning on winning from this series all along.
Meanwhile, my interest has waned a bit, with Chelsea's season starting today and (fantasy) football starting soon. But they're the only Twins I have, so I'll be around for what's become the rare game that doesn't happen when I'm scheduled to work. And hey, after that, I can watch the all-important Red Sox-Yankees game tonight because it's the only game on at the time!!!
The Twins may not be interesting right now, but the playoffs always are. With one quarter of the season left, here's what you've got if it ended today:
(1) Yankees vs. (4) Rays or (5) A's
(2) Rangers vs. (3) White Sox
(1) Nationals vs. (4) Braves or (5) Pirates
(2) Reds vs. (3) Giants
There are a lot of close races, and this still looks like a lot of fun (Yankees excepted).
Go Twins...give me a game worth seeing, at least.

It's missing Larry Fast on keyboards, but how about that? Tony Levin rocking the Stick bass
