Valdez sinks Licey.  Aguilas is leery of Leury.  The Hague decides in favor of Este.

ESCOGIDO 5, LICEY 0 IN ESCOGIDO

Twins:  Jorge Polanco (Escogido) was 1-for-3.

Licey:  Jordany Valdespin (Mets) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Jurickson Profar (Texas) was 0-for-1 with three walks.

Escogido:  Erik Gonzalez (Cleveland) was 2-for-4 with a triple, scoring once and driving in one.  Fernando Martinez was 2-for-3 with a double and a run.  Edward Valdez struck out six in six innings, allowing three hits and two walks.

The game:  Abraham Almonte (Seattle) doubled and scored on a pair of productive outs to give Escogido a 1-0 lead in the first.  A two-run single by James McCann (Detroit) made it 3-0 in the second.  It stayed there until the seventh, when a Gonzalez triple led to two more runs and put the game out of reach.  The closest Licey came to scoring was the eighth, when they put runners on second and third with one out.

CIBAO 4, AGUILAS 3 IN AGUILAS

Cibao:  Leury Garcia was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run (his second), scoring twice.

Aguilas:  Juan Lagares (Mets) was 3-for-4 with a double and a run.  Adam Reifer struck out four in two shutout innings, allowing no hits and one walk.

The game:  Cibao scored once on an error in the second, but back-to-back homers in the third, a two-run homer by Dan Black (White Sox) and a solo shot by Zoilo Almonte (Yankees), put Aguilas ahead 3-1.  In the fourth, the Garcia homer made it 3-2 and another run scored on an infield out to tie it at three.  Garcia led off the sixth with a double and scored on a single by Moises Sierra (Toronto) to put Cibao ahead to stay.  Aguilas got a one-out double in the eighth, which was the only time they put a runner into scoring position after that.

ESTE 6, ESTRELLAS 4 IN ESTE

Estrellas:  Audy Ciriaco was 1-for-3 with a home run (his third), driving in four.  Alex Valdez was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored once.

Este:  Jim Adduci (Texas) was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer (his second), scoring twice.  Matt Hague (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.  Hector Gomez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with a run.

The game:  Ciriaco hit a three-run homer in the first to give Estrellas a 3-0 lead.  Adduci hit a three-run homer in the third to tie it, followed by a Hague double and a Ricardo Nanita RBI single to give Este a 4-3 advantage.  In the sixth, Junior Lake (Cubs) singled, stole second and third, and scored on a sacrifice fly to tie it up.  In the seventh, Hague hit a two-run single to put Este back up 6-4.  Estrellas did not get a hit after that.
