Newbish says this was his favorite song of the year. It's probably top ten for me (I really wanted to do "Aquamarine" by Black Thought and Danger Mouse, but there's no live version of any of their stuff, it seems). I was a little surprised to see that nothing from the new bum had been played here -- the album itself is short, but it's mostly an all killer, no filler affair.
Everyone flocked to "Spitting Off the Edge of the World" and that one is great, but this song mixes that classic YYY propulsion with their newer complexity.
I've been listening to a lot of classical music while I work. In November, I heard a piano piece by Connor Chee called "Unbroken" that stopped me in my tracks. There isn't a video of that one available, so here's another piece of his.
And just for funsies:
Here's not not The Beths with a holiday classic.
Love that the bass player is in shorts. New Zealand Christmas.
Not quite as good as that other time I played a cover of a Christmas song by a former Beatle
10 cool things that I liked this year in music:
I love bluegrass and I love a good cover
When I was younger I was always talking to the older guys to get turned onto music I hadn't heard before. Sometimes the suggestions spoke to me, sometimes they didn't. I don't know if that you just cant understand bands like My Bloody Valentine, Stereolab, or Spiritualized when you are 23 or if I just didn't yet know how to appreciate the subtle melodies. Either way, sorry it took me so long Snackboy and Coach. Those bands all rule. Spiritualized is still putting out great stuff to this day as shown below.

JOY TO THE WORDLE!
Couldn't find a decent live version. Meh.
