Doubleheader day in progress.
Day game:
JP Sears

Bailey Ober
Night game:
Joey Estes
vs
Chris Paddack
West Coast road trip! It's Paddack against H-Dak. Neither pitcher has been particularly good of late, so that and the ballpark might make the ball a bit more lively. You know, provided the batters can get their bats on it.
Twins are good against bad teams (usually), so hopefully they have a few more wins on this side of the Mississippi.
ETA: Oh yeah, they're in Minnesota.

Carlos Rodón
Another Twins-Yankees game. The Twins are 0-4 so far this season. That means they are due for a win.
DAY GAME ALERT!
First pitch @ 12:10 p.m. CT
On the Twins website today, the top story is about Bailey Ober's complete futility against the Royals. Ober has a 7.71 ERA in nine career starts against KC, and a 3.36 ERA against everyone else. So Jeff A is not the only one to notice that the Royals just seem to own Ober.
Today Chris Paddack takes the mound for the Twins, countered by Brady Singer for the Royals. Paddack has been a fairly reliable mid-rotation starter this year, pitching to a 4.39 ERA in ten starts. Singer has been quite good this season, sporting a 2.63 ERA and a WHIP of just 1.12.
The ass bats were back on full display last night and the Twins futility at the plate was palpable. What was last year a weak division that we won fairly handily seems much more competitive this year. KC has been building up for a few years and looks like a real contender. But the team to beat to get to the top has to be Cleveland. They have been our closest competition in the division the last couple of years and this year they are playing like champions again. But there's lots of season left and we all know about the sudden reversals of fortune that can occur in sports. Hell, that's what makes it worth watching.

George Kirby
vs
Chris Paddack
Kirby is very good and an ideal for anyone that loathes walks. He had a Silvaesque 19 walks over 190 ⅔ innings last season. This year is more of the same with four walks in his 38 ⅓ innings. He's striking out a bit more than last year and also surrendered a mere two home runs.

Day game alert!
I've missed the last several games as part of watching a celestial event. Unfortunately, so have the Twins' bats. Tonight's opposing starter strikes out a bunch so I don't have much hopes for today's game.

New series in Balmore! Miranda’s big league debut! Let’s do this, citizens!
If you'd told me two weeks ago that on this day the Twins would be in first place riding a 6-game winning streak and have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball, statistically speaking, I would have scoffed, perhaps even guffawed at such a foolhardy notion. Yet here we are. Joe Ryan is absolutely, undeniably ridiculous. He's 3-1 in four starts and has only given up 3 earned runs on just 10 hits in 23 innings pitched, good for a 1.17 ERA. He's struck out 25 and only walked 6 batters, giving him a 0.70 WHIP. Ridiculous, I say.
If Joe Ryan is ridiculous, Dylan Bundy is absurd. He's undefeated in three starts with a 0.59 ERA. Chris Archer, one of the more veteran arms, has no decisions nor gaudy numbers, but he's got a respectable 3.18 ERA and he's holding hitters to a .209 batting average. Chris Paddack and Sonny Gray have been the hard luck kids of the rotation with 3.68 and 5.68 ERAs, respectively.
That brings us to today's Twins starter, Bailey Ober, 1-1 in 3 starts, 2.81 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 13 Ks in 16 innings. You know, middle of the road. He goes up against southpaw Tarik Skubal for the Tigers. He's 1-1 with a 2.30 ERA and 16 strikeouts. I'd say we should maybe expect a pitcher's duel today but the Twins are swinging some hot bats, so maybe not. Either way, it's a fun team to watch right now.
