We're one game away from a great (nearly) yearly tradition: watching the Yankees get knocked out of the playoffs. I'd rather it was literally any other AL team doing it to them, but whatever.

Menomena – Baton
Time for the comeback of my "Bands with more than one lead singer" gimmick. These guys released another solid album, Moms, last month, and will be playing at the Triple Rock in Minneapolis this Saturday night. I'll make a pledge to buy any WGOMer who comes down to check the show out a drink. For now, here's drummer Danny Seim on lead vocals, and head below the jump for another (and a special bonus video!):

Pixel Perfect Memories: Electronic Baseball
Today begins the Top 50 of my NES countdown. Today's featured game is Dragon Warrior.
Release Date: 1988
Platform: LCD Handheld
Developer: Tiger
Yeah, the entire Tiger system is painfully outdated, with it's blippity bloop sounds and constantly flashing graphics. But I spent way too much time playing it. How about you? There's really no need to review the game, but here's a picture to refresh your memory.
This month's questions is as follows: What were your favorite Tiger handheld games?

Dave DeBusschere (1940)
Tim McCarver (1941)
Don Hood (1949)
Brian Harper (1959)
Kevin McReynolds (1959)

Goose Goslin was a star for the franchise in the 1920s, when it played in Washington.
Better known as a basketball player, Dave DeBusschere pitched for the White Sox from 1962-1963.
We would also like to wish a very happy birthday to spookymilk’s daughter.
October 16, 2012: Family
My sweet little Sour Cream turns five today. The Milkmaid and I talk about having another one occasionally, but if we don't - and I think that's more likely - I will never feel like I have unfinished business. I adore these girls beyond words.
Father John Misty – I’m Writing a Novel
Here's the artist formerly known as sad bastard J. Tillman with something a little more upbeat from Fear Fun.

Cris Carpenter on the bump for the Cards
Ryan Volegsong pitching for the Gigantes
my prediction: Tim McCarver will say something stupid
Winter Wonderland: Games of 10/14
Oswaldo Arcia gets it going. A big game for Chris Colabello. Pedro Florimon and Drew Butera hit about like you'd expect.
