Newbish loves "One More Time" (thanks, Trolls soundtrack!) and it's definitely a song that I haven'tinded hearing a lot of over the past few months.

The title track to one of my favorite albums of last year. I'm not always big into jazz, but the dub undertones on Source were irresistible.

Bartees made some waves earlier in the year with an EP of The National covers (which are good!) before dropping his debut full length in early October. It's a mash of hip-hop, indie rock, and jazzy music, and it comes recommended.
Mustang itself is a straight banger and is the first song on the video, after a brief introduction, but the entire performance is on the video.

I had a lot of skepticism at the onset that this season was wise or even possible to complete. Credit where it's due: they did it. Sixty (or in some cases, very nearly sixty) games in the books. Weird books, they are, too. The Orioles were in contention until a couple of weeks ago. The freaking MARLINS actually made the playoffs.
Some people will undoubtedly dismiss this season as a freak show -- an exhibition that shouldn't have happened, or one that in some way counts for less than a normal, full, 162 game season.
Not me, though.
Old favorite Ervin Santana utilizes his Twitter feed to encourage everyone to #SMELLBASEBALL. To feel it. To let it deep into your bones. In July, I was skeptical, but man... This year, I smelled baseball.
I don't know what happens from here. There's reason for optimism, there's reason for pessimism. For now, we get a chance to dwell on the best sport there is.

This all sort of sneaked up on me, so I don't have anything extra. Cleveland and Chicago have caught up, so it's time to put some distance between us and them again.
Get it done, Übermensch.
I'm about done with Royals games. I'd be saying that even if they didn't have our number, but right now, our favorite team is 3-5 against them, and 14-5 against all other teams. It strikes me that the Twins would probably like playing someone else for a bit, as well.
Tonight, the Twins send Dobnak to try to regain some sense to all of this. He did a fine job against this team six days ago, so there's no reason to think he can't do the same today.
Because of some truly menacing weather yesterday, we get to test out the goofy new 2020 doubleheader rules. Seven inning games! What do ya know about that? Funny that they are doing an actual, non-split doubleheader, now that there aren't fans to come.
Game 1 features former Terry Ryan thirst trap Ian Kennedy squaring off against Jake Odorizzi. The Odor this far has been mostly absent, so hopefully this game will get him started off on the path he was on last season.
Game 2 is unclear thus far. Bullpen game? Berrios? Odorizzi again? Who knows? It'll be fun, either way.
There were definitely moments this week where I thought that I'd posted my last game log of the year. It might be this one instead.
It's been a lot of fun having baseball back, particularly because Newbish has gotten obsessed with baseball over the past month or so. He seems to have acquired the taste in roughly the same way I did... Baseball cards. That 2019 pack of Topps Heritage I got for him has become his prized possession. He pores over them on the way to school; he imitates the poses he sees on the fronts of the cards (action poses are great and all, but there is something awesome about those cheesy, almost yearbook looking poses on old baseball cards); he's enjoyed watching the games (Kepler and Cruz are his heroes, mostly because he's seen them both Homer). Most importantly, he's gained a ton of interest in hitting an playing catch. It's great.
All of this is to say is that baseball needst stop trying to ruin baseball. Players, stay home. MLB, have a plan beyond "20-something dudebros not behaving like 20-something dudebros". Figure this out.
Kenta Maeda gets the start tonight. He was pretty solid in his first appearance, and the Spiders don't have anywhere near the lineup that Chicago does. I'm expecting that we might actually see our first six inning start tonight.
