The Band with The Staple Singers – The Weight

Check it out: Rick Danko's playing a fretless Ampeg bass in this cut, and for some reason he looks (and sounds?) like Dennis Hopper when he's singing his solo. The solos from Mavis and Pops are treasures. From The Last Waltz concert, filmed by Martin Scorsese.

WGOM Sponsorships

There was some consensus behind sponsoring a player on baseball-reference.com. There's enough money in the WGOM piggy bank that if the community wants it, we could sponsor a player or two.

First, a poll whether the community wants to do it. I'm thinking the total amount spent on sponsoring pages will be $50.

Should we sponsor some pages on B-R.com?

  • Yes (71%, 20 Votes)
  • No (29%, 8 Votes)

Total Voters: 28

While we're here, we should also discuss who or what to sponsor. Nominate your choices below and in a few days, I'll put up another poll to vote on what will actually be sponsored. Also, don't forget the message that will be displayed with the sponsoring. We have 255 characters to abuse.

The Two Man Gentlemen Band – Fancy Beer + Prime Numbers

My expression of fraternal esteem to everyone here at the WGOM. In song form, of course.

Make the jump for "Prime Numbers," which is sort of like musical Number Munchers, but in a song about ladies' measurements monogamy vs. polyamory . Continue reading The Two Man Gentlemen Band – Fancy Beer + Prime Numbers

2012 Game Logs: Game 29 Minnesota @ Orlando

Below is a make believe conversation that may or may not take place after the Wolves beat the Magic tonight.

Jerry Zgoda: Dwight, there has been a lot of speculation as to where you might end up this season.

Dwight Howard: Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio are really talented players, they really impressed me tonight.  I could see myself playing in Minnesota.

Jerry Zgoda: Umm...

Dwight: I am committed to giving it my all in Orlando though. I would never ask for a trade

Jerry Zgoda: Sure...

Dwight: It is just that sometimes, you know, I want to win championships and I don't know that if the team I have here in Orlando will help me in accomplishing that goal.

Jerry Zgoda:  ....

Dwight: But yeah, I think that New York, New Jersey, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Minnesota all present those opportunities.

Jerry Zgoda: So are you saying that you want to play in Minnesota?

Dwight: Look man, I don't know why you reporters keep asking me questions like this. I just want to play the game and help Orlando win a championship.

Tonight, watch Dwight Howard sullenly put up 20/13 while not interacting with his teammates in anyway what so ever.

Remodeled basement. Same half-baked taste.
