2022 Game Log 17 — Tigers at Twins

So the heat generated by the Twins taking the Jaspers to the White Sox nor the smoking hot men's sports weekend wasn't enough to warm Minnesota's temperatures so we will have another chilly night at Target Field for the Tigers. I'd like to hit a game soon but could at least like something in the 60s.

Tigers in town for the first time this year with Miguel Cabrera in the 3000 hit, 500 homer club. The Tigers should start to be a little better this year although their 6-9 start isn't so nice.

LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (0-1, 5.27) for the Tigers and RHP Chris Paddack (0-2, 5.00) for the Twins. The Twins have scored exactly zero runs in games that Paddack has pitched in so hopefully that changes tonight.

First Pitch at 6:40. Bring a warm coat if you go to the game.

Twins Lineup
DH - Buxton
SS - Correa
2B - Polanco
LF - Garlick
3B - Urshela
RF - Kepler
1B - Sano
C - Jeffers
CF - Celestino

Game 33: Twins at Tigers

Gibson (3-2, 2.97 ERA, 5.13 xFIP) vs. Simon (4-1, 3.44 ERA, 4.16 xFIP)

After a day off, the Twins get to head to Detroit for a series against the sometimes in first place, sometimes not Tigers. (currently not). Things haven't gone too swimmingly for the Twins against Detroit this year. Part of that could be things like letting Stauffer pitch to Cabrera (or anyone, but Cabrera especially). Of course, that can't happen this series.

Gibson looks to continue a pretty good start to his season. I am less optimistic he will tonight because it looks like he's been fairly lucky so far. He's striking pretty much no one out, even for a guy who doesn't really strike many guys out to begin with. That doesn't bode well if those FB's starting turning into HR's (6.5% HR/FB right now).

Fortunately, I think that first series of the season was the outlier for the Twin's offense, so it looks like they can, at least, score some runs against Tigers pitching.

I am assuming (hoping) Hicks will get the start tonight, although I can't seem to get any access to any lineup information because clicking "preview" on the Twins site sends me to season ticket information. Nice work guys.

Game 20: Tigers vs. Twins

Sanchez (1-2, 5.96 ERA) vs. Big Pelf! (1-0, 2.65 ERA)

Welcome back to Tuesday game previews, Big Pelf!

Admittedly, he had a pretty good outing in his last start. It could even be argued that his last two were good. Hopefully that is something he can keep up tonight, although with his allergies to strikeouts, that may be difficult against the Tigers. A quick look at his 4.99 xFIP doesn't fill me with a ton of confidence that this isn't just smoke and mirrors.

I'm going to be in Toledo for the next couple days, so I might actually be able to watch this series. I hope to see a win against this dang team.
