Because last time this worked out so well, both teams are doing it again.
After this game, there will be one-third of the season left. The Twins have done a lot of losing in the first two-thirds, so now they're in the 54-game stretch where they win everything, right?

It took 101 games for a game log to be missed. That's longer than I would have predicted at the beginning of the year. I'm not sure if it was exactly missed however. Morales is gone and Suzuki seems likely to follow. Kind of sucks for Suzuki to be traded midseason for a third consecutive year, but maybe he'll get lucky this offseason and sign a long-term deal.

Baseball returns from its too long break. The Rays, possibly soon to no longer have David Price, send their entire team to the All-Star Game. They're a little late, so the Twins will have to suffice for the opponent.

Last series before the All-Star break and the Twins decide to visit Morneau in his new digs. And Cuddyer, but he has to do the visiting on the bench as he's on the 60-day DL.

The Twins accomplished something no other team had this season: scored more than three (earned) runs against Tanaka. Now the Yankees send out someone named Chase Whitley. He faced them once already on June 1 in New York, giving up just one run in six innings. This time, the Twins are bringing the fireworks and I predict they will score eight runs, maybe in one inning.

The Twins aren't doing so great. The Rangers aren't doing so great. The Twins were just swept by the Angels. The Rangers were just swept by the Tigers and the Angels before that plus dropped the final two against the Athletics.
I'm predicting another sweep for the Twins. No reason to let any optimism back to the Rangers.

Ricky "Eventually an ace?" Nolasco
BR has the Twins ranked 22nd in SRS. Thankfully, the White Sox are ranked 27th. This is a perfect time for Nolasco to earn that ace(-ish) label.

The Twins are in fifth place, but just four games behind the Tigers. The division has returned to mediocrity and with the Twins at the bottom, it's a lot more fun.
Yesterday, Jeff Sullivan listed the biggest over- and underachievers by position. He limited it to the positions that were at least two wins over or under projections so far in the season. One Twin made it on the list:
Joining a game in progress.

Spoiler: Gibson already with two strikeouts.
