2022 Game Log 128 – Red Sox at Twins

Four wins in a row, six loses in a row, back to four wins in a row. Talk about a roller coaster. Twins up against the reeling Red Sox and looking to keep that roller coaster on the upward. Hopefully the plunge isn't against the upcoming series against the Whities.

Red Sox have been bad this year, which given their resources, really speaks to the disorganization in the dugout and front office. I'm not even sure what the plan is with that team. Pitching for the Red Sox is Kutter Crawford who frankly would struggle to even make it on the Twins starting rotation. Chris Archer for the Twins and he's alternated between 4 and 5 innings his last few outings. So he's on tap for a 5 inning stint tonight.

Looks like glorious weather for a game with a first pitch slated at 6:40p.

2022 Game Log 126: Boston Red Sox vs. Minnesota Twins

As mentioned, the Twins have a grueling, crucial stretch in front of them. While a sweep of the Giants is nice, these next few series could well decide the course of the rest of the season.

Aaaaand one reason I said that is I guess I haven't been playing close attention because I thought the Red Sox were doing better than this. They're currently in last place in the AL East (though that designation naturally comes with some caveats) at 62-66. Still, I'm sure they could easily be in contention for the Central, so this won't be an easy series. Especially if the assbats are abound as has been a common feature lately.

We start off with some Bello on Bundy action tonight. Dylan allowed 2 runs in 5 innings against the Astros last time, but he didn't record a strikeout. Hopefully another Twins starter can hit six innings tonight.

2022 Game 123: Minnesota at Houston

Chris Archer has started 21 games for the Twins this season. In not one of them has he pitched more than five innings. Not one. He'll take the mound again tonight, but if want to see him pitch, try not to blink. Archer squares off with Luis Garcia, who is 10-8 with an ERA just north of four and 127 strikeouts in 124 innings. If momentum is tonight's starting pitcher, advantage Astros, I guess.

The Guardians keep collecting wins while the Twins squander their opportunities and pile up the losses with lackluster defense, baserunning, and an offense that is only days away from an official MIA designation. The main thing that keeps me hanging on is that I love watching Luis Arraez play baseball and feel compelled to watch every plate appearance and track his batting average on a daily basis. So, I have no idea how you turn this team around and get it playing up to its potential again, that's Rocco's job and that's why he makes the big pile of dough. It doesn't strike me as an easy task, though.

Play ball!

2022 Game 122: Minnesota Twins at Houston Astros

Dylan Bundy
vs
Framber Valdez

The Guardians won yesterday and the Twins did not, falling further back in the division. The Orioles have a better record. MLB released its 2023 schedule and for the first time, every team will play all other 29 teams in a season. There's still a bias towards intradivision games, but it's less than it used to be. The AL Central has a chance for everyone to be below .500 next year.

Valdez is having his best season yet. He's also left-handed. Insert everything free wrote yesterday into this game log.

2022 Game log 121 – Twins at Astros

After losing 3 of 4 to the Rangers at home the Twins find themselves looking to get back on track against the lowly Houston Astros at Enron Field. Narrator: The Astros have the best record in the American League and play at Minute Maid Park

And after scoring 6 runs in four games against the Rangers, the Twins look to feast on the Astro pitching. Narrator: The Astros have the best pitching line up in the American League and tonight's starter, Justin Verlander, has a 1.95 ERA.

The Astros may not be the Royals, but could just be the team the Twins need to face to get back on track with 42 games left in the season. Narrator: While true the Astros are not the Royals, this does not appear the team the Twins need to face right now.

Aaron Sanchez back up for the Twins tonight after a decent outing 3 weeks ago against the Tigers so we'll see how that goes too. Oof.
