Minor Details: Games of August 13

Xavier Avery and Pat Dean lead the Red Wings to  a spit.  Adam Brett Walker II and Brett Lee shine in a Lookouts victory.  The Miracle wastes a good performance by Luke Westphal.  The Kernels hang on for a victory.  Travis Blankenhorn hits a big homer for the E-Twins.  The GCL Twins and the DSL Twins are both blown out.

FMD: THR’s Bday.

It's THR's birthday today. He had another surgery on his knee yesterday, this one of the "no-cutting" type where he was put under and then had his knee forced. There was a risk of a torn tendon or broken femur, but it sounds like he was pleased with the results.

I've forgotten his birthday so many times in the last 15 years, as it's three days after my anniversary. This year, I remembered and got the card in the mail on Tuesday. Last night, I found it still in the mailbox, shoved into the back by the two days' mail. Crap.

More on theme, Steve Reich's Drumming is pretty good, even if it lags when it shifts into a Music for 18 Musicians feel in part 3. Also, they could have fit "Clapping Music" onto the disc.

2015 Game 114: Rangers at Twins

Yes, the local nine are fading, but Miguel Sano is must-see TV. I could live with 2015 being 2001 in terms of significance.

Ervin Santana, who's been real up and down since he came back, faces Chi Chi Gonzalez, who is named Chi Chi. He's a spot starter, replacing Cole Hamels, who's been walking more and more guys as he climbs the ranks to the majors.

Let's sweep this thing, Twins, because why not?

Remodeled basement. Same half-baked taste.
