3 + 1 = ?

In the not-too-distant future, a new little Pepper will be joining our clan. The jalapeno will be almost 3 at that point. While in theory my recollections of the early days with him should have faded, I have a stubbornly keen memory and I remember in great detail just how difficult and overwhelming things were with him at first. (And this is despite having a normal/easy delivery and a healthy baby.)

After a full day of work and an evening of toddler wrangling, I often wonder what on earth we’re doing. On a rational level, we’ve always wanted two kids, the timing makes sense, and I think the jalapeno will make a great big brother. It’s just that in the short term, I feel like this is possibly insane. Continue reading 3 + 1 = ?

Where They Stand

Rochester is 18-28, sixth in the International League North, nine games behind Buffalo and Pawtucket.  The Red Wings have lost two consecutive games and are 4-6 in their last ten games.

New Britain is 21-25, fifth in the Eastern League Eastern, six games behind Portland.  The Rock Cats lost their most recent game and are 1-9 in their last ten games.

Fort Myers is 32-13, first in the Florida State League South, 6.5 games ahead of St. Lucie.  The Miracle has lost two consecutive games and is 5-5 in its last ten games.

Cedar Rapids is 30-14, first in the Midwest League Western, four games ahead of Beloit.  The Kernels lost their most recent game and are 6-4 in their last ten games.

College basketball coach Tom Penders played minor league baseball for the Indians in 1968.

May 23, 2013: Tiresome

The Twins are in a bad enough stretch that we're at the point where the casual fans on my social network feeds start with their opinions and analysis without substance. A month from now when the Twins' hopes are long gone, they'll stop pretending to care, but until then I'll be rolling my eyes.
