Zack Granite probably deserves a call-up, but I don't know what the Twins would do with him right now. The Lookouts win the first half South Championship. The Kernels clinch a playoff spot with a huge first inning.

Archie Ware was a star first baseman in the Negro Leagues.
Infielder Chet Boak played for the Twins’ AAA affiliate, the Syracuse Chiefs, in 1961, but does not appear to have actually been a part of the Twins’ organization, as records show him belonging to the expansion Washington Senators. One assumes he was loaned to the Twins’ for part of that season.
Isao Harimoto is the only person to have 3,000 hits in Japanese baseball.
I would like to wish a very happy birthday to Mom A. She was not a big baseball fan (she felt I'd had a good game if she didn't have to wash my uniform, which unfortunately happened quite a bit because I sat on the bench a lot), but she came to every game and often worked in the cramped little concession stand even on the hottest days. Happy birthday, Mom.
June 19, 2017: Lost Weekend
The Twins get a "much needed break" today before the BiSox come to town. So, the question is, a rough stretch or regression to the mean?
(Yes, I realize we pulled some guys off the street and let them pitch, but still)
Game 67: Indians at Twins
Remember when all the underlying numbers were saying the Twins weren't this good and we were saying, yeah, well it doesn't really matter as long as they are in first place. Yeah, those were good times.
If the Twins don't win today and the White Sox do, the Twins will be closer to last place than first. Time to call up the talent with real future potential.

June 18, 2017: Happy Father’s Day
Mine will consist of removing several candidates for the world's ugliest wallpaper. Hopefully yours will be more exciting.
Minor Details: Games of June 17
Zack Granite just keeps on hitting. The Lookouts overcome a rare bad game by Felix Jorge. Travis Blankenhorn wins it for the Kernels with a steal of home. Looks like it's time for Tyler Wells and Estamy Urena to move up.
Sun Kil Moon – I Love My Dad
I know there were...eyebrows raised over what I played on Mother's Day, so for Father's Day this is what you get. You get Koz singing about going to kindergarten with "an albino". Look what ya did, ya little jerk!

Russ Hodges was a baseball broadcaster from 1929-1970, most notably with the Giants. He is most famous for his home run call on Bobby Thomson's "Shot Heard 'Round the World" in 1951.
Ron Necciai struck out 27 batters in a nine inning game while playing for Bristol in the Appalachian League in 1952.
It may never happen, but Bill James belongs in the Hall of Fame.
Game 15: Cleveland at Minnesota
After a 5-1 start, the Twins have now dropped 6 of 8, are 3-7 over their past 10 and are 7-7 (.500) overall. This record is tied with Cleveland for 3rd in the Central Division and 1.5 games behind first place Detroit. They're also a cool .500 at home and on the road, 4-4 and 3-3 respectively.
Today's Focus: Pitching
Young lefty, Adalberto Mejia (0-1, 4.05 ERA, 1.65 WHIP) takes the mound for the Twins this evening, having shown significant improvement in his second start last week against Chicago, giving up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 4 (and walking 3).
Cleveland sends former 1st rounder (3rd overall) Trevor Bauer (0-2, 8.44 ERA, 1.59 WHIP) against the Twins who, after an unspectacular first outing against Arizona (5.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER -- he did strikeout 7) followed with an even worse performance in Detroit on Friday (5.0, 8, 6, 6 w/ 6 SO).
Cleveland starters are last in MLB in ERA (5.86), 27th in WHIP (1.39) and tied for 2nd in Hits allowed (85). As a team, they're 28th in ERA (4.94), 23rd in WHIP (1.37) and 2nd in Hits allowed (131) ... so ... let's WAKE UP THE BATS!!!
Twins starters are 2nd in ERA (3.18) in MLB and 2nd in WHIP (1.06), and as a team, lead the majors in WHIP (1.04), sit in 2nd in the AL in ERA (2.98) and 3rd place overall. They're 29th in Hits allowed (95) but are tied for 27th in SO (93) ... so ... yay for good defense?
Also ... I have little hope that the Wild will win even 1 game, let alone their series against St. Louis. However, I hope they take heart and abide:
Games 65 & 66: clevelanders @ twins
Two years ago, Newbish was born. One day ago, I set up his first tee and watched him take his first swings with a baseball bat (some pop ups, and one solid line drive). It was even Probably Prince day yesterday (newbish loves Prince), so everything seems perfect.
Even more, this doubleheader means something. Depending on how the day goes, we could be one down, or three up. That's a big swing.
