Game 95: Tigers @ Twins

It's July 20th and the Twins are still only (somehow) a 1/2 game back of the Clevelanders for first in the ALC. Its truly mind-boggling when incorporating the information that they just sent out an old-as-dirt Bartolo Colon to start a game. But hey, I'll take it.

Anibal Sanchez (1-0, 6.08 ERA, 5.58 FIP) vs. Ervin Santana (11-6, 2.99 ERA, 4.76 FIP)

The Tigers have entered rebuild mode (and abandoned fly-ball mode), which is sort of fun to see since they've been near the top of the division for a while now. That should hopefully make things a bit easier for the Twins to keep pace with the Spiders.  I have to imagine we'll see Verlander trying on some new clothes fairly soon, eh?

FMD 7/21/17: Meatloaf

Since this week's guest DJ has been none other than Meat himself, it seemed somewhat fitting that today's FMD feature be meat related. And what else could be music and meat related better than Meatloaf?

Here, enjoy this video which is a fantastic bit of ... something. Featuring Cher!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I love how earnest the man is in his songs.

Anyway, share your lists, share your favorite Meatloaf anecdotes, share your submissions for bizarre and earnest music videos... whatever moves you.

The Nation Has An Appetite: What To Do With Too Much Zucchini

The other day I posted a couple of links to baked zucchini recipes (Bread and Blueberry Lemon Cake (my recommendation on the cake is to find a slightly less/more lemony sweet buttercream recipe, and also to add some lemon into the batter if you like lemon)). You should make those if you have lots of zucchini, and I understand the bread freezes fairly well too.

Today I wanted to share another favorite, and I thought I'd turn it into content here, given our recent conversations about generating more and maybe some new Citizens. Anyway, I made it last night, and it turned out perfect. It's quick, easy, and satisfying. Can't beat that.

Ingredients
2 medium zucchini, chopped into 1/2" - 1" pieces
1 medium onion, chopped in 1" pieces
Pepperoni slices
Mozzarella or similar cheese
Your favorite marinara sauce
Basil leaves
Good hot dog/brat buns
Salt, Pepper, Oregano
2 tablespoons butter (or less)

Directions
1. Heat zucchini and onion in butter until cooked through, seasoning with salt, pepper, and oregano.

2. Layer a row of pepperoni and another of basil into the buns.

3. Spoon in the cooked zucchini and top with marina and cheese.

4. Broil until cheese is melted/browning.

It's that easy. So much yum.

Minor Details: Games of July 19

A big comeback for the Red Wings.  Chattanooga scores all twelve runs on homers.  A big comeback for the Miracle.  A good day for Aaron Whitefield.  A nine-run inning caps a comeback for the E-Twins.  The GCL Twins sweep as Daniel Palka hits his first rehab home run.  The DSL Twins also sweep.

July 20, 2017: Users

(Yes, I'll add a stupid stock photo to each post that deserves one)

We've had some good conversations in the past couple days about casting a wider net to snag more users. My original idea of asking HomerDome to post a little bit more seems insufficient.

Anyway, we're working on a Bookface page. Once it's up and running (very soon), perhaps share it every now and then to snag some folk? We're kind of a specific niche, but I'm guessing everyone knows someone that falls into it.

Also, I believe pretty much everyone has posting privileges (if you don't seem to, let us know). As mentioned before, if you ever have an idea, go ahead and toss it up. We'll work to promote it.

Beyond that, if anyone has ideas, we'd love to hear them.
