2023 Game 146: Tampa Bay Rays at Minnesota Twins

Taj Bradley
vs
Dallas Keuchel

Another Wednesday, another day game.

Another surprisingly decent start by Keuchel against the Mets. Now he's facing an actually good team. This is also the final game the Twins have against a good team this season. Yes, it's only game 146. Next up is a road trip against the White Sox and Reds (75-71 right now). After that it's a gentle stretch into the postseason with the Angels and Athletics visiting before the final series in Denver.

I think eight is the most Twins we have born on one day.

We would also like to wish a very happy birthday to Papa Beau.

2023 Game Log 145 – Rays at Twins

Twins slow march to the Central Division title continues with a second game against the really good Tampa Bay Rays. Twins once again at 6 games over .500 after reaching a season high 8 games over on Saturday. Joe Ryan on the mound for the Twins. Former Twin Zach Little pitching for the Rays. My sources list Zach Little as a reliever so not sure if this is a bullpen game for the Rays. However, he did pitch 8 pretty solid innings last week so perhaps Little is being stretched out to be a starter.

Twins Magic Number now 11 for both Guardians and Tigers.

Game time 6:40.

Minor Details: Where They Stand

The St. Paul Saints are 36-27, in first place in International League West, 1.5 games ahead of Nashville.  However, they are four games behind Durham for best record in the league, which (if I'm reading it correctly) is what they would need to have to make the playoffs.

The Wichita Wind Surge is 34-29, in second place in the Texas League North, one game behind Springfield.

The Cedar Rapids Kernels finished their season 42-24, in first place in the Midwest League West, six games ahead of Peoria and Wisconsin.  They will play Peoria in the first round of the Midwest League playoffs.

The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels finished their season 33-32, in fourth place in the Florida State League West, 10.5 games behind Lakeland, 2.5 games behind third-place Clearwater.
