Game 81: the halfway point

I've liked Wolf Alice on and off since their debut album a while back, but their albs have always struck me as a bit uneven. Their newest, Blue Weekend, fixes a lot of that, and it rocks, besides.

I always figured they'd put on a real good live show, and this clip seems to confirm that.

Oh, and Griffin Jax takes on the Royals, if you're into that sort of thing.

Game 76: Clevelanders @ twins

Does it feel like the Twins went 4-2 this past week? I guess I kind of recall that they had a free good games, but wouldn't have guessed a .667 record, necessarily. The Twins have largely stabilized, but they obviously need to do a lot more than that to dig out of the hole they flung themselves into.

Today, the hometown nine match up against this same uninspiring, but somehow competitive Cleveland team. The season series is tied so far, so hopefully, King Kenta's comeback from the IL , which has been pretty good so far, keeps on rolling.

Game 70: twins @ rangers

The Twins are maybe a little better than they seem.

That's perhaps an absurd thing to say above t the most disappointing team of my lifetime, but over the last thirty games, they're playing an even .500. that's not GOOD, by any stretch, and it doesn't negate the ridiculous 13-26 record they started the season with (and it won't save them from being sellers at the deadline), but it's not 100 loss territory, either.

Aaaaand, that's about it for the good news. Almost half the games have been started by pit cf hers who currently have 6+ ERAs, including this afternoon's dating participant, Randy Dobnak. The Übermensch was a feel good story when he snagged a long term deal over the winter, but this happy ending has been pretty well ruined by the postscript. He's currently in a race with Matty Shoes to see who can hit 9 ERA first, and much as I believe in Shoemaker's abilities, Randy might get there first based simply in the fact that he's still in the rotation.

Will Randy prove me wrong? I kind of doubt it, but that's why they play the games.

Go Twins!

Game 58: twins @ royals

Yesterday's game was terrible, luckily, I didn't make it past the second run in the bottom of the first. I got home from work, had the game on in the car, and had a vague idea of where things were going.

I assume today's game will be better. Will it actually be worth watching/listening to? Who knows. At this point, each game gets taken at its own merits. Berrios could pitch a no hitter. That would be worth listening. He could earn the Matty P. Shoes Award For Outstanding Achievement in Giving Up Runs to Teams from Kansas City. If that's the case, this game log will barely have been worth making.

So it goes.

Game 45: twins @ clevelanders

Winning streak!

Today, our beloved Twins try to extend their winning streak to 3 games for just the second time this year, and the first time since....game 4.

To that end, they'll send out last year's Cy Young award runner-up to take on last year's winner. Man, both of those pitchers were pretty great last year. One of them has been pretty great this year, too. Too bad it's the other guy.

Yes, King Kenta has just been off all season. Last time he took on the Clevelanders, it was utterly infuriating. Let's hope he's able to do better against a lineup that the Übermensch dominated last night, and the lineup manages to run into something against the Popstar.
