Joe Ryan
vs
Kyle Hendricks
Joe Ryan received a few extra days off but avoided a trip to the IL. Kyle Hendricks lost whatever mojo he had and his now not that good. He's given up the most hits in MLB this season.

We are definitely at the play out the string portion of the schedule. I am sure Twins players are now in the middle of scheduling events in October that don't include "show up at the park and play baseball." The Twins would have to go 8-4 over these last 12 games to stay under 90 loses but at this point does it matter if they lose 89 or 91 games? I would hope that some of the younger players see this as an opportunity to shine a bit, get a good start for 2022 but then again, with no stakes involved, does it really matter?
Griffin Jax on the mound for the Twins and he's a guy you'd like to keep making strides so that he has a place on the 2022 roster. Alec Mills for the Cubs.
Game time 6:40p, looks like a very nice day for fall baseball in Chicago.
Twins Lineup
2B - Arraez
CF - Buxton
SS - Polanco
3B - Donaldson
RF - Kepler
1B - Sano
LF - Gordon
C - Garver
P - Jax
José Berríos faces off against the Twins today. For the sake of the standings, I think I'll root for him.

This was pretty much what I was going to write about the Twins first matchup against their former ace. I want José to be great and have success more than I want this version of the Twins to win their 66th game today.
Berríos has pitched into the 7th inning in each of his last four starts. He's struck out 30, walked 2, and allowed 7 runs in 27.1 innings. His Game Score has been 60+ in each of those starts. He's kind of on a roll.
Hopefully one of these years Justin Morneau can call a series at Rogers Center

Final game against Cleveland for the season. The Twins already won the season series, 11-7, outscoring them 88-63.
The Twins already finished the season series with the White Sox, losing 13 out of 19 against them. Twins are also 7-9 against the Royals with three games remaining so unlikely to finish with a winning record against them. The record against the Tigers is flipped at 9-7 so also unlikely to finish with a losing record against them. If the Twins win tonight and get take four out of six against the Royals and Tigers, they would finish .500 against the division. *does the math* Oof, that is not good against all the other divisions.
Game 1:
Triston McKenzie
vs
Joe Ryan
This game went well last time and now Ryan only needs to finish seven innings.
Game 2:
Logan Allen
vs
Charlie Barnes
Game one has two right-handed starters and game two has two left-handed starters. Both of their ERAs start with a 6 and are closer to starting with a 7 than a 5. Naturally one team won't be able to score at all this game.
Oh hey, day game alert. There's baseball going on...
Luis Gil vs John Gant
This is the makeup game for August 22.
Game already in progress.
Twenty games remain. The Twins have to go 10-10 to avoid 90 losses. Considering the non-locomotive-related disaster of the first month and a half and the trading away of Cruz and Berrios, avoiding 90 losses would be notable for this team.
Jorge Polanco might hit his 30th homer today!
Bailey Ober might have his 10th start in a row allowing 3 or fewer earned runs!
The Twins might even the season series against KC at 8-8 and move up to a tie for fourth in the AL central standings!
So many reasons to tune in.
Here's a game log, for those who are still paying attention.
